Attributed to A E Jones (1878-1954) possibly for Liberty & Co, an Arts & Crafts copper jewel casket, circa 1900, with planished finish and riveted strapwork decoration, the hinged lid with central motif with circular turquoise enamel roundel, the base bearing an etched signature J W Salthouse 1927, 23.5cm wide/Note: a J W Salthouse is recorded as a mine manager in Zimbabwe and was involved in the Mazoe patrol skirmish of June 1896 CONDITION REPORT: The jewel casket with scratches present throughout. Some small but deep scratches also. Some marks, dots and speckles. Discolouration in patches. Slightly misshapen in parts, feet with dings and marks. Turquoise plaque with crazing. The velvet interior with discolouration to edges with some central spots also. Overall in good condition, consistent with caskets age and use. No obvious damage or restoration.
Victorian silver cigarette box, the hinged lid with fine enamelled scene of five kilted Highland soldiers dancing to bagpipes in a typical moorland landscape. Monogrammed and dated 1893, makers marks for Deakin & Francis, Birmingham 1892, 19.5cm x 9.5cm x 5.5cm.Condition report:Very good - enamel perfect, dent on bottom corner, lid lifted slightly at one end, but not a particular issue.
