A pair of Japanese cloisonné silver wired long necked bottle vases the tapered bodies with fine silver wire depicting pigeons in flight and on the ground amidst sparse foliage, on a cream ground, the slightly flared necks with a band of stylised flowers on a grey/green ground and the flared foot rims with vertical, alternate panels of red and ochre, 12in. (30.5cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: Vase 1: Some small areas of unfilled enamel below the top rim band of the neck and some slightly larger on the body. The largest being approx. 8 mm. x 1.5 mm. - these are from the making.  No other damage or restoration noted.Vase 2: The cream ground has a fine dust in the surface over half of the area.  Also a horizontal crack approx. ¼ way up the neck and a vertical repair above it approx. 3.5 cm. long and varying from 1.5 mm. to 5.0 mm. wide.

A Japanese cloisonné silver wired vase Meiji period, of tapered ovoid form, the dark green and goldstone ground decorated all over with butterflies and moths, 5¾in. (14.5cm.) high. * CONDITION: In good condition overall. Some small spits to the surface of the enamel from the making, mainly around the neck decoration. A small patch of scuffing to the surface of the enamel above the foot and a few small scratches.

A Japanese cloisonné silver wired vase Meiji period, of four sided baluster form, tapering to a circular foot, the dark blue ground with goldstone flecks and decorated with a bird in flight by a tree and peonies, 12in. (30.5cm.) high. * CONDITION: Some small flakes from the neck below the slightly distorted copper rim.  Some crazing and a chip to enamel extending 2in. (4.8cm.) from an impact mark approx. 1¾in. above foot. A small triangle from the band above the foot rim. Tiny bruise to shoulder. Fine pitting to much of the decoration from the making.

A silver wired Japanese cloisonné baluster vase Meiji period, the pale blue ground decorated within silver wire with six lappets containing alternate blue dragons and Ho-Ho birds on a white ground, beneath a broad, pale mushroom band at the shoulder with flowers and foliage and further decoration to the waisted neck and flared foot, 6¼in. (15.7cm.) high. * CONDITION: Small firing crack by dragon tail approx. 1.5 cm. in a wide V shape, and three others below the neck rim band of decoration. Tiny flake from enamel below neck rim mount.  Some pitting from the making. No other damage or restoration noted.

A fine Japanese silver wired cloisonné vase Meiji period (1868-1912), of elegant, slender tapering form, decorated with sparrows in flight and perching among blossoming wisteria with a small blooming plant at the foot of the vine, all set in fine silver wire between bands of lancets at the foot and everted neck rims, the reverse with three flowering stems and leaves and the base inset with a stylised open flower, 12in. (30.5cm.) high. * CONDITION (Revised 18.03.15): Large impact mark to back of shoulder, which has caused crazing and cracking to the enamel - approx. 1½in. diameter area. Three very fine, vertical hairline cracks to enamel to back of vase, passing through the topmost flower head - they converge into one crack beneath the flower. Approx. 4in. long. They don't appear to have been caused by an impact. There are also a few minor surface scratches and scuffs. Some very fine pin-prick pits to the surface, from the making.

A pair of Japanese musen wireless cloisonné vases Meiji period, of slender ovoid form, with shaded pale grey grounds, one with a white full moon surrounded by dark grey clouds, the other, Mount Fuji with a pale pink dawn sky arising from behind, 6in. (15.2cm.) high, vase with moon a/f. (2) * CONDITION: Vase 1 (Fuji): Tiny bruise just above foot rim. Otherwise in good condition.Vase 2 (moon): Has a large impact mark to the right of the moon, extensive cracking ¾ of the height of body and some extending beneath the moon.  Two chips to enamel surface, approx. 3 and 4 mm. diameter. Some surface corrosion to foot and neck mounts.

A yellow ground Japanese cloisonné censer Meiji period, raised on three tapered tripod supports, decorated to one side with a brightly coloured Ho-Ho bird in fine silver cloisons, 4½in. (11.4cm.) high. * CONDITION: Body of censer undamaged and in good condition, with no restoration noted.  Some blackened marks to the enamel of interior.

A silver wired Japanese cloisonné vase Meiji period, of slender baluster form, the midnight blue ground with two-gauge silver wire decoration of a bird in wisteria with irises, mixed flowers and rocks at the base, signed with three character mark, 6in. (15.2cm.) high. * CONDITION: Slight bruise to neck rim mount.  The enamel just below the rim mount is slightly uneven and the c-scrolls unevenly visible - this is possibly restoration but we are not sure. A little lack of enamel fill to some areas of decoration and light pitting, from the making. No other damage or restoration noted.

A large Japanese cloisonné baluster vase Meiji period, in the manner of Namikawa Yasuyuki, the matt black ground with all-round decoration in fine silver wire of wisteria, peonies, irises and other flowers, with three cranes and two sparrows, the neck with three deep bands, the central one with varicoloured mons and stylised clouds between two bands of brown leaves on a grey ground, a shallow band above the foot rim similarly decorated, 11in. (28cm.) high. * CONDITION: In good condition, with no damage or restoration noted. Expected minor pin-pricks of unfilled enamel to surface from the making.

A pair of Japanese cloisonné silver wired purple ground vases Meiji period, of slender, tapering form, decorated within fine silver wire with sparrows in flight and perching on purple and white flowering wisteria with other flowers at the base, the vertical rim of the short neck with red-brown key pattern conforming with that of the foot, 10in. (25cm.) high.(2) * CONDITION: One vase has a very fine, 1½in. hairline crack to the enamel to the centre back. The other vase is in good condition. No other damage or restoration noted.

A Japanese cloisonné four sided tapered vase Meiji period, the black ground with all-over C-scroll decoration set with varying sized circular reserves with flowers and butterflies and interspersed with smaller circles of various motifs, the angular shoulders and short neck with conforming decoration and the domed foot edged with red beads below a band of mottled green scales, 6 3/8in. (16.3cm.) high. * CONDITION: A little pitting to some decoration from the making, and a knock to underside of brass foot rim, which has caused two tiny flakes from the red enamel above. Two tiny chips to red beaded border at one corner of shoulder. No other damage or restoration.

A Japanese ginbari jippo cloisonné lidded tripod vase Meiji period, of squat bun form, on three conical brass feet, decorated with polychrome iris heads in fine silver wire on a pale blue ground, the domed lid with chrysanthemum and daisy heads sitting inside a fixed metal liner, 3½in. (9.8cm.) high, 4½in. (11.5cm.) diameter. * CONDITION: Extensive impact crazing to enamel ground on one side.  Cracks to interior of lid.

A pair of small Japanese cloisonné baluster vases Meiji period, the black ground bodies with C-scroll decoration and various flowers in circular reserves interspersed with polychrome fans, the lower body and flared foot with green scale decoration, 6 3/8in. (16.2cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: Some expected minor pitting overall, from the making. Small scratch to one shoulder. Slight distortion to one neck rim, but no enamel loss. No other damage or restoration noted.

An unusual gourd shaped Japanese cloisonné covered vase Meiji period, the pale yellow ground decorated in fine silver wire with two birds perched in the branches of a Japanese maple, the cloud-form border to the rim with bloodstone-style enamel with scattered flower heads, the conforming cover with ball finial, a narrow barber's pole border to the foot, 6½in. (16.5cm.) high. * CONDITION: A small scratch above the foot and a very small frit to the surface of the enamel approx. 1in. below the tip of the upper branch. No other damage or restoration noted. Finial on cover replaced and the fixing is loose with some tiny chips from around the edges of the hole.

An oval section Japanese cloisonné box early 20th century, with hinged lid and raised on four ball feet, the white ground with all-over brass wire C-scrolls and a central, vertical stem of varicoloured flowers and buds, the blue enamel interior with a central division, 6 03-Aug x 2½in. (16.3 x 6.3cm.), 2 1/8in. (5.5cm.) high. * CONDITION: Some small pits to surface, from the making. No other damage or restoration noted.

(12.2cm.) high. * CONDITION: Restored bruise to shoulder. Tiny flake to enamel just to left of yellow flower. No other damage or restoration noted.

A Japanese tsuiki-jippo 'five carp' cloisonné enamel vase Meiji period, the five, incised, fantail fish swimming amongst trailing weed on a 'fish-roe' hammered ground under translucent enamel, dark green at the neck, shading to the base through light green to pale gold, 9 5/8in. (24.5cm.) high. * CONDITION: In very good condition. No damage or restoration noted.

A Japanese cloisonné musen enamel vase Meiji period, of tapered globular form with short waisted neck, the pale mushroom (pink/brown) body encircled by wireless decoration of fourteen egrets with pink blush breasts, their beaks and eyes within silver cloisons, 4 3/8in. (11.2cm.) high. * CONDITION: One pin head pit to pink enamel below shoulder, from the making.  No other damage or restoration noted - in good condition.

A Japanese tsuiki-jippo cloisonné enamel vase Meiji period, of squat ovoid form, the ground incised with four fan-tail fish, two shaded red and two shaded purple/grey, swimming amongst weed beneath translucent surface enamel from mid green at the neck, through light gold to pale copper at the base, 7¼in. (18.3cm.) high. * CONDITION: In very good condition. No damage or restoration noted.

A pair of Japanese cloisonné vases of slender baluster form Meiji period, the long-necked, midnight blue ground vases each decorated in silver wire with a swallow perching on a flowering wisteria vine, with irises at the base, 7 1/8in. (18cm.) high. (2) * CONDITION: Vase 1: A minute pit to enamel on neck and another above foot, from the making. No other damage or restoration noted.Vase 2: On the reverse, a minute chip from the surface approx.  ¾ in. up from foot rim.  Also minute nicks of enamel from the top leaves of a vine, probably from the making.
