An early 19th century oak and mahogany cross banded long case clock with a 33.5cm white enamel dial indistinctly signed Ellesmere with subsidiary seconds and date aperture, rose and leaf painted spandrels, the two train eight day movement with anchor escapement, rack striking on a bell, the case with a swan neck cresting, brass rosette finial`s above brass capped fluted columns, the trunk with a shaped cross banded door, flanked by fluted quarter columns raised upon an inlaid plinth base, reduced bracket feet, requires restoration approximately 212cms with two weights and a pendulum
An Austro-Hungarian silver and enamel model of a hippocampus by Hermann Boehm, control mark A for Vienna, circa 1900, recumbent with outstretched wings, its head turned slightly, on a double disc base, the underside with winged masks and scrolls on a light blue ground, on an ebonised plinth, 12cm (4 3/4in) high, the base 6.5cm (2 1/2in) square. Hermann Boehm (active 1866-1922), late Politzer & Boehm, was famous for his enamel works and his silver and gold works with precious stones. His products were exported worldwide. In 1873 he participated at the World Exhibition in Vienna.
A Bilston enamel rectangular table snuff box, circa 1765, the cover painted with three figures in a parkland landscape within raised gilt and white scroll border, the sides with figural landscape vignettes, the base with an asymmetric cartouche, the mounts chased copper gilt with a fluted thumb piece, 8.2cm (3 1/4in) long
A south Staffordshire enamel circular basket shape patch box, circa 1780-85, the cover sketched with an overflowing basket of fruit within a puce and yellow chevron border, the sides painted to simulate basketwork, later mirror lined, metal mounts, 4.5cm (1 3/4in) diameter. A south Staffordshire enamel drum shape bougie box, circa 1770, with a funnel-topped cover and ring handle, painted with rustic views within raised gilded scrolls against a grass green ground with raised white dots, gilt metal mounts, 6cm (2 1/2in) high. Provenance: The Hon. Mrs. Nellie Ionides Collection, Sotheby`s London, 17th June 1990, Lot 63. Mrs. Ionides noted that this was the first English enamel in her celebrated collection and that it had been given to her in 1903 by Mr. H. Levy.
A Birmingham enamel circular patch box, circa 1755, the cover transfer printed and over painted in black with The Tea Party signed in the bottom right-hand with `R H f` for Robert Hancock fecit, the base printed with an allegory of The Pen is mightier than the Sword, white sides repainted, the interior of the base inscribed J`ne vivrai plus/ Que pour Vous, steel mirror, 4.6cm (1 3/4in) diameter. A Battersea enamel oval portrait plaque, circa 1750-1753, transfer printed in sepia with Elizabeth Gunning, in the original copper frame, 10.5cm (4 1/8in) high. Elizabeth Gunning, Duchess of Hamilton and of Argyll and 1st Baroness Hamilton of Hameldon in her own right (1733-1790). Provenance: Winifred Williams Antiques, Eastbourne (undated trade label).
