An early nineteenth century commemorative creamware jug with brown enamel rim, printed and enamelled with a portrait of Mathieu Platoff to one side and a named view depicting the conflagration of Moscow seen from the Kremlin on the 14th September 1812, 6". Note: The 1812 fire of Moscow broke out on September 14, 1812 in the day when Russian troops and most residents abandoned the city and Napoleons vanguard troops entered the city following the battle of Borodino. The fire raged until September 18, destroying an estimated three quarters of Moscow.
