A "BECKFORDIAN" RENAISSANCE REVIVAL CLOCK in an architectural silver gilt and enamelled case set with numerous flat-cut garnets and cabochon turquoise, the elaborate pierced top mounted with "Moors Heads" and enclosing a faceted "rock crystal" ball, with a simple white enamel dial with Roman numerals in black and a watch movement signed "London", 18cm high, with a protective glass dome and an ebonised base The movement and dial suggest that this clock was made during the first quarter of the 19th century to satisfy the tastes of antiquarians such as William Beckford of Fonthill Abbey in Wiltshire. Provenance: A noble West Country collection.

The back door set with a pressed gold portrait - signed by Levis Bottés and stamped FRANCE and hallmarked 10R, the inner case door stamped 18K and serial numbers No. 27691 and 3818340 7cm high overall 5cm wide.
