London Transport coach stop enamel E-PLATE for Green Line route 718 destinated Kingston, Victoria, Harlow, 'Fare Stage'. This may well have been located in Staines or Hampton. E-plates with the 'Fare Stage' annotation are most unusual. A couple of small blemishes, otherwise in excellent, ex-use condition. [1]
An AEC winged COACH BADGE as fitted to the front panel of AEC coaches, such as the Reliance, 1950s-70s. A complete unit, stainless steel with enamel badge and fixing bolts on the reverse. Measures 18" x 8" (46cm x 20cm) and is in very good used condition with just some small blemishes from use. [1]
London Underground enamel PLATFORM BULLSEYE SIGN from Epping Station on the Central Line, the northern terminus. A 3-part sign consisting of the name-bar and two half-moons, no frame. Dates from the late 1960s/early 1970s. The bar measures 58" (147cm) across. A few small chips to the enamel but generally in very good, ex-use condition. [3 pieces]
Late Victorian/early Edwardian ENAMEL SIGN 'Notice to Passengers - Please Retain your Tickets for Inspection - By Order'. Thought to be from a horse-bus or horse-tram but exact origin unknown. Measures 19.5" x 2.75" (50cm x 7cm) and is in very good, ex-use condition with minor blemishes only. [1]
1930s London Transport bus stop timetable panel enamel HEADER PLATE in the pre-war style with over/underlining with diamond cut-outs. This standard style of plate replaced all the various previous types from around 1937 onwards. In very good, ex-use condition, a few small blemishes at the edges and very light weathering. [1]
London Transport enamel BUS & COACH STOP FLAG ('Bus Compulsory, Coach Request'). A small, single-sided sign of the type that were located in runners on the roof of bus shelters alongside e-plates. These are rarely seen at auction. Measures 10.5" x 10" (27cm x 25cm). In excellent condition. [1]
London Transport enamel BUS & COACH STOP FLAG (bus compulsory, coach request). A 1950s/60s 'bullseye'-style, double-sided 'boat'-type flag. Measures 18" x 15.5" (46cm x 40cm). Carries a very low BP location number on the base - 849. In very good, ex-use condition with minor blemishes only. [1]
London Underground enamel STATION SIGN from King's Cross St Pancras, the biggest interchange station on the system, serving 6 Underground lines and 2 main-line stations. A roundel design, likely to date from the 1980s, measuring 24" (60cm) square, 26.5 " (67cm) with the separate aluminium frame. In excellent condition, minor blemishes only. [1]
British Railways (London Midland Region) ENAMEL SIGN 'Trent'. Thought to be from the former interchange station of that name (closed 1968) where totems were never fitted and these signs were attached to lamp-posts etc instead. Measures 25" x 20" (63cm x 50cm) and is in very good condition with just a few small chips. [1]
Selection of London Underground enamel STOCK-NUMBER PLATES from 1962-Tube Stock comprising Driving Motor Cars 1572, 1600, 1601, 1602 & 1603 and Trailer 2600. These plates were located inside the end of each car above the inter-communicating door. Generally in very good, ex-use condition. [6]
c1880s ENAMEL SIGN 'To the East London and Underground Railways' with a typical Victorian-era pointing finger. Thought to have been located at Whitechapel station and therefore could date from the opening of the District Railway station there in 1884. Was obtained by vendor's grandfather who worked for the ELR. Measures 46" x 20" (117cm x 51cm). Some restoration towards the top, some corrosion & small losses at the edges. A remarkable survivor and the oldest Underground sign we have seen at auction. [1]
London Transport bus stop enamel EXTENSION 'BOAT' SIGN for Red Arrow route 500 between Victoria Station and Marble Arch. Believed to date from 1966 when the first Red Arrow route was introduced and features a 6d piece to indicate the fare. All elements of this double-sided sign are enamelled. 'Boat' extensions were fitted below bus stop flags to indicate additional information and are hollow and shaped to the same dimensions as the full flag. Measures 18" x 6" (46cm x 15cm) and is in very good, ex-use condition. [1]
Bristol Omnibus Co & Bath Tramways Motor Co ENAMEL SIGN 'Parcel Agency', c 1950s/60s, measuring 8" (20cm) square and in very good, ex-use condition with a few small blemishes only, plus a small Aldershot & District PLASTIC SIGN 'Private Hire' of similar vintage, probably ex-bus interior, measuring 6.25 x 5.25" (16cm x 13cm) and in very good, ex-use condition. London Transport Central Buses DRIVING INSTRUCTOR'S CAP & BADGE. Cap is size 6 3/4 and is in very good condition, the badge is the early 1960s issue in enamelled chrome with flush upper infill and has a little damage to the enamel. Plus a small quantity of London Transport UNIFORM BUTTONS with the griffin motif, both chrome and plastic types, in good, ex-use condition. [Cap + badge + buttons]
London Transport coach stop enamel E-PLATE for Green Line route 725 destinated Windsor via Kingston. The additional words 'Fare Stage' were removed from the plate by LT for further use. The plate was probably located in the area between Sutton and Worcester Park. In good, ex-use condition. [1]
London Transport enamel BUS & COACH STOP FLAG ('Request'). A single-sided sign in a slightly smaller size than the full flags. These were made to be fixed over the stop flags on wooden bus shelters when the 'denomination' of the stop needed changing and they have screw-holes in the corners for this purpose. They are rather unusual. Measures 16" x 14" (41cm x 36cm). In excellent condition. [1]
Selection of London Underground enamel STOCK-NUMBER PLATES from 1962-Tube Stock comprising Driving Motor Cars 1462, 1478, 1479, 1493 & 1573 and Non-Driving Motor Car 9433. These plates were located inside the end of each car above the inter-communicating door. A couple have small enamel losses but the rest are in very good, ex-use condition. [6]
London Transport OFFICIAL'S PLATE with id number 179 from the first series of 1934. Made of nickel-sliver with enamel infills, these plates were issued to senior, plain-clothes officials and could be clipped to the breast pocket. The design originated in LGOC days and various versions have continued to be produced up to the present day. In good, ex-use condition with light surface scratches. [1]
