INTEREST - SCOTTISH FOOTBALL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP GOLD MEDAL 1965/66, the obverse with central shield shaped plaque with red enamelled lion rampant motif, surrounded by enamelled thistle motifs and blue enamel border inscribed 'Scottish Football League Championship', the reverse inscribed 'First Division, Season 1965-66', 45mm high including bale, maker JWB, in nine carat gold, 14.9gNote: This season was pivotal for Celtic F.C. in a number of ways. It was the first full season in charge for legendary manager Jock Stein, who clinched his first title as manager by triumphing over arch-rivals Rangers by a margin of two points. This would be the first of what would eventually become 9 titles in a row and, furthermore, victory allowed for qualification into next year's European Cup which the team would go on to famously win 'in the heat of Lisbon'.Condition report: Condition good to fair. There is a minor loss to the enamel as per the photograph, and wear as per age. Unfortunately we have no knowledge as to who this medal was awarded to. Hallmarks are for Birmingham 1958.

TAIT', 40mm including bale, maker JWB, in nine carat gold, approximately 6g, mounted on presentation plaqueNote: This rare medal comes from a spell of Scottish League Cup dominance for the Edinburgh side. Indeed, the club have lifted that trophy only four times, all of which came during the 1950s to early 60s. This medal comes from the second time they lifted the cup, defeating Partick Thistle resoundingly by 5 goals to 1 in the final.
