The interiors of the box and cover have been re-freshed. There is no evidence of an inner flange to the box to secure the cover.

1st Bn Coldstream Guards Campaign Medals of Lieut.-Colonel Sir Charles Arthur Andrew Frederick GCVO KCB Sir Charles served with the 1st Bn during the Egypt campain and was later appointed Master of the King's Household and an Extra Equerry to King Edward VII and to Queen Alexandra.Comprising: 1902 Coronation Medal, 1911 Coronation Medal, Egypt Medal, clasp Suakin 1885 LIEUT C.A.A.FREDERICK 1/ COLDm GDS, Order of Medjidie (small chip to crescent enamel), Khedive Star 1884-6. The group remains mounted as originally worn, with tailors details of Hunt and Roskell Ltd to the reverse. Lieut.-Colonel Sir Charles Arthur Andrew Frederick GCVO KCB alongside his military duties was attached to the Royal Household holding the post of Master of the King's Household and an Extra Equerry to King Edward VII and to Queen Alexandra and later to King George V. This emotive group records the sacrifice and service of the Joassin family of Herstal Belgium.The medal group of Pierre Joassin a Belgian agent working for the British during WW1 and continued the resistance against the Nazi’s arrested and deported to Dachau concentration camp as a political prisoner in February 1945.Comprising: Liege Medal 1914, War Medal, Victory Medal, Medal of Armed Resistance, War Commemoration Medal, British War Medal, P. JOASSIN. Medals loose. This group is accompanied by original Dachau uniform cloth inverted red triangle with printed “B” indicating a Belgian Political Prisoner. ... White cloth uniform strip with stencilled number 141282 (prisoner number confirmed). ... Lapel badge gilt & enamel blue and white strips with triangle and B with initials CNPPA-NCPGR ... Similar badge red enamel triangle with B and Dachau above. Items believed attributed to Michel Pierre Joassin son of Pierre who also served with the resistance and was arrested and killed in 1943.Medal of Armed Resistance ... 1946 dated letter sent as a reply to an equerry from Pierre as to the circumstances and location of his sons death. The address is given as Herstal.Medal Group believed to be the brother of Pierre Joassin.1914, War Medal, Victory Medal, British War Medal “M. JOASSIN”. Medals loose.The groups are accompanied by a small number of lapel badges, etc including a small bronze none portable award embossed “LUC-MARC 1940 1945”. Both brothers single entitlement of the British War Medal are confirmed and shown as Belgian Agents. Pierre Joassin was born in 1896, presumably living at Herstal which was the home of the Belgium arms factory Fabrique Nationale. The town was over run by the Germans on the 7th August 1914, ten houses were destroyed and 27 civilians killed. Little is at present known to the work Pierre and his brother undertook for the British during the war. Surviving Pierre continued to live in the town and in 1923 his son Michel-Pierre was born. Pierre’s services against the Germans would once again be needed with the declaration of war once more against German, the arms factory would once more be a wanted price by the Nazi’s. Pierre is confirmed as working for the resistance with his son, however on the 23rd March Pierre was arrested and his son was arrested three days later and killed. Imprisoned by the Nazi’s he was eventually deported to Dachau Concentration Camp arriving on the 16th February 1945 categorised as a Political Prisoner, his prison number confirmed as “141282”. Surviving he was liberated and returned home to Rue Large Voie 83 Herstal to start the search for his son. PAYMENT BY BANK TRANSFER ONLY

Wiener Ausrufer Tarock, Vienna, Austria: Josef Glanz, circa 1870s, the complete deck of 54 stencil coloured engraved cards, comprising 4 suits of 8 (French suits), each with pip cards ace-4 (red) or 7-10 (black) and 4 double-ended court cards, ace of hearts with tax and maker's stamps, the knaves with maker's and printer's details, plus 22 trump cards, comprising 21 trumps (bearing double-ended Roman numerals I-XXI) depicting Viennese characters and street cries, all but trump I captioned, and Fool card, generally toned, trump XIV and two pip cards with brown marks, trump XVI with surface loss to upper edge (barely affecting Roman numeral), versos red geometric lozenges pattern, each card 106 x 61 mm, together with: Austrian Turkish Tarock, Turkish Siege Tarock, Vienna, Austria: Josef Glanz, circa 1870s, the complete deck of 54 stencil coloured lithographed cards, comprising 4 suits of 8 (French suits), each with pip cards ace-4 (red) or 7-10 (black) and 4 double-ended court cards, the courts portraying named leaders of Poland (spades), Turkey (clubs), Bavaria (diamonds) and Austria (hearts), plus 22 trump cards, comprising 21 double-ended trumps (bearing Roman numerals I-XXI) depicting characters and scenes relating to the Second Turkish Siege of Vienna (1683), and Fool card, generally toned and dusty, some light finger-soiling, few small marks or stains, queen of diamonds with small area of adhesion (from verso of another card) and associated minor rubbing to one end, rounded corners, gilt edges, versos blue geometric lozenges pattern, each card 110 x 61 mm, with original slipcase box with lift-off lid, covered in dark green straight-grained leather, with gilt-lettered 'Tarok' and bookseller's name 'Theyer & Hardtmuth, Wien', the lid with applied enamel playing cards decoration, 41 cards from each deck corner mounted onto 4 display boards, encapsulated in clear plastic (not examined out of display boards), the remainder loosely contained (with original box) in 2 clear plastic bags, each display board 54.5 x 40 cmQTY: (2)NOTE:Cary collection, AUS 213 and 215 respectively.Second item: very scarce.
