A group of eleven George V and George VI First and Second World War medals "To Sub. Lieutenant Douglas V. Duff, Royal Naval Reserve and later Assistant Superintendent Palestine Police", comprising - 1914-1918 War Medal, Mercantile Marine Medal, Victory Medal, George VI Long Service Medal with one bar "Palestine", 1939-1945 Star, the Atlantic Star, the Africa Star, the Italy Star, 1939-1945 War Medal (with oak leaves), a French enamel Order, the Order of the Crown of Rumania (all mounted as one group), and a silver and enamel Order of the Holy Sepulchre, complete with two photographs of Mr Duff in later life, a copy of a telegram dated 9th September 1939, a citation of the Order of the Crown of Rumania dated 27th January 1927, and a copy of his autobiography "Bailing with a Tea Spoon" by Douglas V. Duff, published by John Long Ltd 1953
Henry Bone (1755-1834) - Fine enamel shoulder length miniature portrait after Sir Thomas Lawrence of "Anne, The First Lady Ellenborough", 3.75ins x 3ins, signed on reverse, painted by H. Bone A.R.A., Enamel Painter to H.R.H. The Prince of Wales after T. Lawrence, and dated July 1806 (?), contained in contemporary gilt deep moulded frame with bold leaf scroll inner panel and acanthus leaf borders (reverse No. 1818, and inscribed "Henry Bone" and address 15 Berners Street, London). Note: Thomas Lawrence exhibited a portrait of Lord Ellenborough at the Royal Academy in 1806, No. 35, and subsequently Henry Bone exhibited a lady after T. Lawrence in 1807 (No. 747)
