1930s/40s London Transport enamel BUS STOP FLAG 'Request'. A double-sided sign comprising two plates in a bronze frame. The wide spacing of the letters in 'Request' suggests that this is one of the earliest flags of this type and may even date to just before WW2. Measures 18" x 16" (46cm x 41cm). A couple of chips on one side but generally in very good, ex-use condition. Complete with fixing rods and BP number 22599 on the base. [1]
London Transport coach stop enamel E-PLATE 'Restricted Coach Stop'. From one of 2 pairs of central London stops (Piccadilly Circus & Oxford St) where the authorities restricted boarding of coaches in order to avoid congestion. This dated back to the first days of Green Line coaches and the restrictions were lifted in 1964/65. This is the only example of this plate which is known to us to have survived. 1950s/60s London Underground ENAMEL SIGN from a street-level entrance to the former Bakerloo Line station of Trafalgar Square (renamed Charing Cross in 1979). The sign was located at the top of the steps down from the street on the square, the entrance could also be used to pass under the road to Strand and Charing Cross Main Line Station. Measures 37" x 30" (94cm x 77cm) and is in excellent condition. [1]
London Transport coach stop enamel E-PLATE for Green Line route 704 destinated London and Windsor. It is highly unusual to see 'London' on a Green Line e-plate although one wonder why this wasn't done more often as the final destination was unlikely ever to have been of interest to passengers at the other end of a cross-London route. Dates from before private records were kept but would probably have been located between Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks. In good, ex-use condition. [1]
London Underground enamel PLATFORM ROUNDEL from Bank Station on the Central and Northern Lines. This is the smaller-size sign, from the track-side, measuring 24" (61cm) across by 19.5" (50cm) high, c1980s, in three parts plus alloy frame. In very good, ex-use condition with only very minor blemishes. [3 parts + frame]
