Polson was elected to the House of Commons at a bi-election as an Independent Conservative but was defeated by John Jacob Astor in 1922. He was a successful businessman having been Chairman of Butlins Ltd, Duffield Iron Corporation, Pye Ltd, Rolls Razor Ltd, and Director at a number of firms including Madame Tussaud's and Walker, Goldsmith and Silvermith Ltd.
