French late 19th century eight day mantel clock with enamel and gilt brass dial in case of balloon style with tortoiseshell and brass inlaid in the manner of Boulle, 37cm.CONDITION REPORT: The Boulle work is slightly lifting below the finial, some scratches to the edges. Strikes on the hour and half. Hands not moving round when wound.

A mid-19th century gilt bronze mantel clock, the case surmounted with water-girl in full dress, over a circular white enamel dial (badly damaged), with twin winding holes for a French brass eight day cylinder movement, having outside countwheel and striking on a bell, the case with further C-scroll, acanthus leaf, shell and flower head cast decoration, h.49cmCondition report: Dial badly damaged. Second water jug? to right hand side of top is missing. Loss to tip of existing water jug. Bell incomplete. Movement with some signs of metal fatigue. Case otherwise with good and original patina, some handling wear. Original gilding. Woman probably probably had something running through her hands. Grubby.

Functions well.Lead size approx. 1mm.Tests as 18ct solid gold.Some enamel loss all over, particularly to thumbpiece.Agate tip is good.

Standing lady with loss to three fingers of right hand, index finger to left hand, object missing from left hand, and losses to neck ribbon and hair flowers. Seated lady in yellow dress with small loss to cards in right hand and flower on hat. Flower applied to base with losses. Some handling wear to enamel and gilt but generally good.
