Jean-André LEPAUTE (1720-1789) A Louis XV 'Regulator' clock, ormolu bronze. An exceptional standing clock, rosewood finished with bronze, 'Ormolu' style. The clock has a large 'compensating pendulum' consisting of copper and steel. The dial is marked 'Lepaute à Paris' and consists of enamel plaques in between bronze. The clock has a central seconds hand, next to the hour and minute hands. The bronze is marked with a crowned letter S. Period Louis XV, 18th century. The clock is overall in good condition with the following remarks: - The colour of the wood has sun-faded over time and should be restored. - There is a restoration to the 12 o'clock marker. - The 20-second plaque has been restored and has faded over time. - The 40-second plaque has a chip on the side. - The 8 o'clock marker has a chip to the side. (L:30,5 x W:52 x H:213 cm)
