Paynter conceived the series as a set of Japanese screens engraving her designs on eleven large blocks measuring about 20cm in height and three half-blocks. These were englarged up to two metres high and screen-printed on to 32 vitreous enamel panels stretching 22 metres, for installation in Newcastle Central Station. A Goldsmith's Company, 112 Regent Street, London carriage clock. Brass frame with top, side and back glass panels, white enamel face with Goldsmith's name to front and French striking movement. Complete with key. and in working order. Inscription to front of case reads "Presented To Lieut And AD Jt M.H.Henderson 4th Lancers Hyd. Contingent On His Marriage By His Brother Officer's 22nd June 1899".
A pair of Chinese blue and white jars and covers, blue and white ginger jar, two Satsuma vases and a cloisonne vase Condition Report: blue and white jars - both lids chipped & one cracked, one chipped to rim & other broken & reglued at rim. ginger jar - ok . cloisonne - general minor pitting, some more noticeable areas to the dragons scales, slight crack to metal foot. small satsuma vase - chipped to rim, white enamel decoration is badly worn,. large satsuma vase - crazed, loss of gilt on handles/applied decoration.
