A 19th century French gilt brass mantel clock. With pagoda top and copper plated corinthian column supports. With enamel dial having Arabic numeral markers. Housing an 8 day cylinder movement by Samuel Marti and stamped D. C. Co. Striking half hourly on a gong, 37cm. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Running. Case in good condition. Sold with key and pendulum.

A mixed group of heraldic mounts comprising: a harness pendant with reserved sexfoil on a blue enamel field; a pendant with two suspension arms, octofoil motif; a gilt suspension bar; a gilt square mount with low-relief cross motif; a heater-shaped pendant with chevrons; two heater-shaped studs. 46 grams total, 16-52mm (3/4 - 2"). Property of an Essex gentleman; acquired on the UK art market. Fair condition. [7]

A mixed group comprising: an aqua glass bottle with stopper, raised 'MONSTERS' legend six times in alternating directions to the body, 'Soda Stream Ltd' to the underside; bifacial rectangular enamelled ferrous sign with emblem of a horizontal lemonade bottle and the words '1D MONSTERS' for Penny Monsters lemonade drink. 3.4 kg total, 27.5-61cm (10 3/4 - 24"). Property of an Essex gentleman; acquired 1960s-1980s. The drink 'Penny Monster' is mentioned in George Orwell's 1939 novel Coming Up for Air where he asks: And what about Penny Monsters? Does one ever see a Penny Monster nowadays? It was a huge bottle, holding more than a quart of fizzy lemonade, all for a penny. That's another thing that the war killed stone dead.
