Nicole Freres crank-wound cylinder music box playing four overtures with 232 teeth total in two combs of 48 and 184 teeth. Good restored veneered case with red interior, rounded corners, hinged key-compartment, hinged endflap, brass stringing and inlay of brass with colored enamel on front and lid. Shows some wear, missing one of the rounded veneer corners on the front, small sections of brass inlay loose. The cylinder measures - 41.5 cm wide with 10 cm diameter. The movement is in a good restored condition, runs a bit slow, governor blades in need of tightening. Each overture plays for almost 3 minutes. The polished brass tune-plaque lists the overtures (Gamme no. 1396) "La Gazza Ladra" by Rossini, "Der Freyschütz" by Weber, "Norma" by Bellini and "Les Huguenots" by Meyerbeer and engraved on the bottom - "Fabqué. par Nicole Frères pour T.
