A Derwent Valley Light Railway enamel gate notice lettered in black "Shut This Gate. Penalty For Neglect £2". Flangeless, 24"x21/2", minor edge-chipping only. A very rare enamel from the railway that opened in 1913 to operate a line from York Layerthorpe station to Cliff Common. It closed in 1982 except for Layerthorpe Yard, still operated by the original company.
