Raingo Freres, Paris a gilt-metal and marble mantel clock with an eight-day duration movement having a silk suspension and striking the hours and half hours on bell with an outside countwheel, the backplate stamped for the maker `Raingo Freres, Paris, 1219`, the white enamel dial with blue Roman numerals and blued steel clover hands, the shaped white marble case with gilt metal mounts and surmounted by a scene depicting a woman holding a baby beneath a palm with a further child beside holding a cross, height: 42 cm (not including base) * Raingo Freres were well-known clockmakers working in Paris in the 19th century. They had a reputation for making orrerys, a mechanical system that showed the movements of the earth and moon around the sun, and which usually sat on top of the clock case. A fine example can be seen in the Science Museum, London.
Raingo Freres a Paris, a Victorian five-piece clock set with the eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half-hours on a bell with an outside countwheel, the white enamel dial signed Raingo Freres a Paris, with gilt Roman numerals, brass moon hands and a turquoise surround, the rectangular case with decorative pillars to the front corners, a stepped base and curved pediment surmounted by a painted porcelain urn, with nine turquoise porcelain panels to the case decorated with raised gilt-work, with a further panel within the arch depicting a lady in a field and another below depicting a shepherd and shepherdess at rest, the panels to the sides decorated with musical themes, with a pair of candlesticks having matching porcelain panels and a further pair of tazze similarly decorated, height: 39cm. * For details of Raingo Freres see lot no. 806/4
A pair of Chinese famille noir porcelain vases, mark of Kangxi but late 19th Century, each decorated in the famille verte palette with birds perched in blossoming branches above flower and rockwork, against a black enamelled ground, on a hexagonal foot, pseudo six character mark in underglaze blue to bases, height approx 23cm (some flaking to black enamel).
A Meissen porcelain timepiece, 19th Century, of rococo scroll shape encrusted with flowers and applied with four figures allegorical of the Seasons, the enamel face above a vignette of a courting couple, the scroll top surmounted by a floral arrangement in an urn, crossed swords in underglaze blue to base with incised `No. 399`, height approx 42cm (some minor faults).
A pearlware pottery jug, early 19th Century, the bulbous body relief moulded with flowerheads between bands of leaves and geometric moulding, enriched overall with blue enamel detail, together with a Grainger Lee & Co. Worcester coffee can, a Spode coffee can and three pieces of Wedgwood `Fallow Deer` pattern (minor faults).
