Bourquin and Fils, Locle', the bar movement having a lever escapement with a split bimetallic balance and signed as the dial, the full hunter case signed and numbered to the inner cuvette '6531', the inside stamped 'State stamp of Neuchatel for 18 carat', diameter 48mm. * Edouard Bourquin was a member of a large, well known family of watchmakers based in Switzerland during the 19th century with outlets in both London and Paris.

Ashley, 2 Green Terrace, Clerkenwell, 03836', the full plate movement having a lever escapement with a split bimetallic balance and signed as the dial, the open faced case hallmarked for 18 carat gold, London 1888, diameter 50mm. * Edward F. Ashley is recorded as working in Green Terrace, Clerkenwell, London from 1878 until 1913.
Waltham. An open faced pocket watch, the white enamel dial signed 'Waltham, USA' and having black Roman numerals, blued steel spade hands and a subsidiary seconds dial, the gold filled case stamped to the inside with the casemaker's details and serial number 'A.L.D., Dennison Watch Case Co., Sun, 519873', the movement having a lever escapement and stamped on the backplate 'A.W. Beddow, High Street, Wem', the open faced case hallmarked for 18 carat gold, London 1883, the inner cover engraved with a presentation for 1884, diameter 50mm. * James Beddow(s) is recorded as working in Wolverhampton from 1834.

A gold plated pair cased pocket watch, the white enamel dial having black Arabic numerals and brass hands, the chain fusee movement having a verge escapement with a plain three arm steel balance, a pierced and engraved backcock, a silvered regulation dial and signed 'Ja. Ellison London, 19912', having a plain inner case and tortoiseshell outer with pique work to the edges, diameter 50mm. * James Ellison is recorded as working in London pre-1784.
William Plumley, London. A gold pair cased pocket watch, the white enamel dial having black Roman numerals, Arabic outer numerals and blued steel 'beetle and poker' hands, the chain fusee movement having Egyptian pillars, a verge escapement with a plain three arm steel balance, a pierced and engraved backcock, a silvered regulation dial and signed 'Wm. Plumley, London, 443', having a plain inner case with the outer case having repousse decoration, diameter 45mm. * William Plumley Snr is recorded as working at Cheapside, London, until 1769 having been apprenticed in 1749 and being a Freeman of the Clockmaker's Company from 1756 until 1779. His son, also William, was apprenticed to him in 1773.

William Sterck, London. Henri Lemaille. A late 19th century engraved brass carriage clock, the eight-day duration movement having a platform lever escapement and striking the hours and half hours on a bell, the backplate numbered '2225' with the frontplate stamped 'H.L.' being the initials of the clockmaker Henri Lemaille, the white enamel dial having black Roman numerals and blued steel moon hands, contained in a foliate engraved corniche case, height 17cm. * Henri Lemaille was one of the best of the French Victorian roulant blanc makers supplying movements to a number of the finest clockmakers of the period including Drocourt and Leroy as well as making finished clocks.
Henri Jacot, Paris. A late Victorian 'Oriental' style French carriage clock, the eight-day duration movement having a platform lever escapement and striking the hours and half hours on a gong with push repeat, the inside of the dial plate stamped with the trademark of the maker Henri Jacot, the backplate stamped with the serial number '7288', the white enamel dial having black Roman numerals, blued steel spade hands and typical Jacot inner ring, within a foliate engraved silvered brass mask, contained in a gilded and silvered pillared case in the Oriental style, with original numbered key, height 19cm. * Henri Jacot was one of the most well known and best maker's of carriage clocks in the Victorian period with an address at 31, Rue de Montmorency, Paris. The first Henri Jacot died in 1868 and was succeeded by his nephew also Henri. They won many medals at exhibitions in both Paris and London including the Gold medal in 1900.
Briant a Paris. A marble and ormolu mantel clock, the eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half hours on a bell, the backplate stamped with the mark of the roulant blanc maker 'Etienne Maxant, Paris', the white enamel dial has black Roman numerals, Arabic outer numerals and signed by the maker 'Briant a Paris', with decorative pierced and engraved gilt brass hands, the ormolu pillar case having classical female figures draped either side, with various ormolu mounts and a frieze to the front depicting putti within a scientific setting, surmounted by a classical urn, all standing on a white marble base inset with further ormolu mounts, height 57cm. * Etienne Maxant is recorded as working at Rue de Saintonge, Paris, in the mid 19th century.
Martinot a Paris. A bronze ormolu mantel clock, having a thirty-hour fusee watch movement repeating the hours on a bell, with a pierced and engraved silver backcock, the backpate engraved with the maker's name 'Gilles Martinot a Paris', the white enamel dial having black Roman numerals and blued steel 'beetle and poker' hands (minute hand missing), the later bronze ormolu case in the form of a bull standing on a base with the clock set above within a floral setting, height 25cm. * Gilles Martinot was a member of the well known Martinot family of Paris clockmakers and is recorded as working in the mid 17th century. A watch by him is in the British Museum.
