An Austro-Hungarian Silver and Enamel Cigarette-Case, Maker's Mark Indistinct, First Quarter 20th Century, oblong, the hinged cover enamelled with a scene of Leda and the Swan, the interior gilded, 9cm wide, gross weight 3oz 17dwt, 120gr. Marked inside base and cover with maker's mark and standard mark. Both are indistinct. There is some overall surface scratching, consistent with age and use. There are some scratches to the enamel and some very small chips to the edges.
A Gold-Mounted and Enamel Snuff-Box, Maker's Mark N?, With Charge Mark Imitating that of Henry Clavel and Jean-Francois Kalendrin and a Date Letter Imitating that of Paris, 1777, Probably German, 19th Century, oblong, the hinged cover and sides each with an enamel plaque depicting putto at play in landscapes, the base with a further plaque painted with an altar, all within rocaille stamped borders, 6.5cm wide Provenance: Christie's, 15 May 1980, lot 502, according to a label inside. . Marked inside the cover and the base with pseudo French marks. There is some wear to the marks. There are some very small pin pricks to the enamel, though these are not immediately obvious. There is a solder line along the bottom edge which may be a repair of may be constructional. There is some discolouration to the mounts.
A George V Enamelled Silver Dressing-Table Service, by Henry Matthews, Birmingham, 1927, each piece with blue guilloche enamel over a wavy ground, comprising: a box, the inside of the hinged cover with a mirrror, 9.5cm diameter; a facetted glass bottle, 17.5cm high; a hair-brush; a clothes-brush; a hand-mirror; a comb; a shoe-horn; a button-hook; a manicure set; a timepiece, apparently unmarked; a crocodile jewellery box and a crocodile desk blotter, all in a fitted crocodile case; Together With: a pair of similar candlesticks, by A L Davenport Ltd., Birmingham 1930. Overall there is some surface scratching and wear as well as some loss and scratching to the enamel. The case has some scratching and staining to the material inside. The candlesticks: There are some bruises to the edges of the bases. There is a bruise to the nozzle on one. The circular box: the enamel is generally intact but with some scratches. The timepiece: possibly silver plated and not solid silver as it is unmarked. There are areas of loss to the enamel. The mechanism is not currently working. The hand-mirror: the marks are rather worn. The mirror plate has some scratching and minor marks. The smaller implements: there is some corrosion to the metal mounts. The brushes: some wear and damage to the bristles on the brushes.
An Elizabeth II Parcel-Gilt Silver Novelty Present, by Stuart Devlin, London, 1977, Number 178 From a Limited Edition, the box of square section, with matted finish and foliage finial, opens to reveal three ships at full sail, 7cm high, 5oz 17dwt,182gr. Fully marked under base and part marked inside cover. The base further stamped 'Made in England' and '178'. There are some overall scratches and wear, consistent with age and use. There is a large section of enamel lacking from the base, under the ships. This means that one of the ships is detached.
A Silver and Tortoiseshell Triple Cased Verge Pocket Watch, made for the Turkish Market, signed Edward Prior, London, 1839, gilt fusee movement signed and numbered 37038, pierced vase shaped pillars, enamel dial with Turkish numerals and signed, beetle and poker hands, both inner cases with matching London hallmarks for 1839, outer tortoiseshell case with pique pins to the borders, 62mm wide see illustration 04.06.21 Both silver cases with surface scratches and staining marks to the surfaces, later minute hand, tortoiseshell outer case with small scratches and the case back edges with minor chips and one small crack, restored dial looks clean, movement with visible fusee chain, the escapement is not working at present, movement needs attention, not working.
A Multi-Gem Set and Enamel Brooch, of giardinetto design, the vase formed of carved emerald, the floral sprays set throughout with eight-cut diamonds, vari-cut sapphire, ruby and turquoise, with yellow and green enamel leaves, in yellow and white claw settings, total estimated diamond weight 0.15 carat approximately, measures 5.7cm by 4.7cm see illustration . The brooch is in fair condition with a chips evident throughout and slight enamel loss. It fastens with a pin and trombone catch. It has an applied plaque stamped 'MORONI ROMA' and '750' and in our opinion would test as gold. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour I/J/K, clarity I1/I2/I3. Gross weight 24.2 grams. CR made 01.06.21.
A Cultured Pearl, Diamond and Enamel Brooch, a blue enamel domed circular plaque within a yellow scrollwork border suspending three cultured pearl drops, chain linked from a scrollwork motif, set throughout with cultured pearls and rose cut diamonds in white rubbed over settings, total estimated diamond weight 0.05 carat approximately, measures 6.6cm by 3.5cm see illustration . The brooch is in good condition. It fastens with a pin and revolver catch. It is stamped '750' and in our opinion would test as gold. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour J/K/L, clarity SI2/I1/I2. Gross weight 21.4 grams. CR made 01.06.21.
An Edwardian Enamel and Seed Pearl Necklace, the lilac guilloche enamel domed circular pendant with a split pearl centrally and suspending a baroque pearl, surmounted by a single three-quarter pearl to a yellow trace link chain, drop length 6cm, chain length 40.5cm see illustration . The necklace is in good condition however the reverse of the pendant is lacking. It fastens with a bolt ring catch. The reverse of the pendant is stamped '15CT' and in our opinion would test as gold. Gross weight 10.1 grams. CR made 27.05.21
An Indian Diamond and Enamel Pendant Necklace, late 19th century, the openwork floral spray inlaid with Indian cut diamonds, rubies and emeralds, in yellow rubbed over settings, the reverse of floral decoration in polychrome enamel with peacock motif, suspending an emerald bead drop, on a double twisted necklace formed of baroque pearls interspaced with emerald beads on a green and gold thread with tassel, drop length 7cm, necklace length 90cm (longest wearing length, approximately) see illustration . The necklace is in good condition however we cannot guarantee the integrity of the string. Gross weight 82.7 grams. CR made 07.06.21.
An Opal, Diamond and Enamel Brooch, circa 1900, the central marquise cabochon opal in a yellow claw setting, within a frame set at compass points with old cut diamonds in square frames decorated with black enamel, interspaced by floral clusters of guilloche green enamel and an old cut diamond centrally, total estimated diamond weight 0.50 carat approximately, length 3.8cm see illustration . The brooch is in good condition with slight surface scratches and minor chips to the opal. It fastens with a pin and C-hook catch and features a safety chain. The brooch fitting is detachable and the loop which the safety chain is attached to is a later addition. It bears no hallmark nor stamp but in our opinion would test as gold. The opal measures 20.59mm x 11.89mm x 8.46mm approximately. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour J/K/L, clarity SI2/I1/I2/I3. Gross weight 12.0 grams. CR made 07.06.21.
Two Art & Crafts Silver Enamel and Mother-of-Pearl Necklaces, by Charles Horner, one enamelled in blue and green, and the other in blue and purple, chain lengths 46.5cm and 49.5cm respectively see illustration . The necklaces are in good condition, with no noted damage or loss to the enamel. They fasten with a bolt ring catches. Both are hallmarked with sponsor's mark 'CH' for Charles Horner, Chester, 1917. Blue and green pendant measures 6.5cm by 2.6cm. Blue and purple pendant measures 5.7cm by 2.3cm. Gross weight 10.0 grams. CR made 01.06.21.
A Limoges Enamel Chalice, in 17th century style, in the manner of Joseph Reymond, the bell shaped bowl painted with Christ half length, the reverse with a shield with cross and crown of thorns, on a baluster stem, the domed foot with four Apostles in oval panels on a black ground with raised white enamel and gilt scrollwork, 19cm high. Losses to enamel at base of bowl. Damage to base of stem. Some typical minor losses and wear throughout.
