PHOEBE ANNA TRAQUAIR (ATTRIBUTED) an Arts and Crafts enamel panel and unmarked silver brooch, circa 1909, the enamel depicting a slumbering figure with two angels in attendance, one angel playing a stringed instrument, all in a landscape, with pallion detail and highlights, in an elongated hexagonal bead and cord border mount, 5 cm by 4 cm overall Note: This enamel is similar to the Traquair enamel panel, titled 'The Dream' in the V&A collection, M198-1976, signed, titled and dated 1909 to the reverse. This panel was part of an extensive donation to the V&A in 1976 from the artist's granddaughter Margaret Bartholomew. The example offered here is a reverse image of the same subject matter. The frame has similarities to a signed and dated pendant by Traquair titled 'The Awakening', 1903. We are indebted to Dr Elizabeth Cumming in identifying this work.
