A good Russian silver-gilt and polychrome cloisonne enamel vesta case by Pavel Ovchinnikov, "88" standard, Moscow, 1880, rectangular but of oval section, decorated with floral medallions between bands of intersecting scrolls on pale blue ground, enamelled hinged cover to one end with aperture for pull-through cord, other end forms the striking plate, 5.6 cm. long. Good condition, enamel is undamaged. Fully marked inside base, part marked inside cover.
