He paints on aluminium using a wide range of media, from acrylic and oil to enamel and marker pens, creating violent self-portraits of the artist in his studio. With echoes of Picasso, Philip Guston and Jean-Michel Basquiat, Bonacina marries art with violence, his faux-Matisse interiors becoming the setting for dismemberment through creativity.
