London Transport TRAM STOP FLAG. A double-sided sign with two enamel plates inside a bronze frame, of the style introduced in the 1930s and used until the end of the system in 1952. This is the compulsory stop version and both the plates and the frame are in excellent condition, the fixing rods are still present. [1]
London Transport 1940/50s enamel bus stop timetable panel HEADER PLATE. This is the early post-WW2 design featuring the updated version of the LT bullseye design and was the final issue of these plates before they were discontinued in the 1950s. Measures 8" x 3" (21cm x 7cm). In very good, ex-use condition with just a few tiny edge-chips which have been touched in. [1]
London Transport Bus Examiner's CAP BADGE issued in the early 1960s to those Divisional Mechanical Inspectors who were qualified by the Ministry of Transport to conduct driving tests of trainees passing through LT's Chiswick Training School. Issued to a very small number of staff for a short period of time, this is a scarce badge. Made of 'gold'-plated metal with enamel inlays, it is in very good condition. [1]
London Transport Underground 1950S/60S enamel FRIEZE PANEL from Blackfriars station shared by the District & Circle Lines and featuring the colours of both lines plus a 'bullseye' logo for the District. It is unusual for these panels to include the bullseye. 64" (163cm) long and in very good ex-use condition with a few edge-chips touched in. [1] [See lot 352 for a matching Circle Line frieze plate.]
London Transport enamel bus stop Q-PLATE "Queue this side for 80, 80A, 151, 164, 164A, 280, 280A, 711 - Queue other side for 93, 213, 213A". An unusually 'congested' plate including a green-background number for a Green Line service. This would have been on a combined bus and Green Line coach stop situated in Sutton High St. Minor edge chips but generally very good. [1]
London Underground ENAMEL DESTINATION PLATE from an O/P/Q-stock car reading 'District' on one side and 'Metropolitan' on the other. Thought to date from the late-1930s, this sign was a swivel-plate for the lower position in the destination indicator. In well-used but very reasonable ex-car condition. [1]
VEHICLE BADGES comprising a brass AEC PLATE surmounted by wings and the letters 'EE' (operator unknown) and an enamel WHEEL-HUB PLATE from a BUT (British United Traction) trolleybus, possibly a London Q1 vehicle. The brass plate is in good condition, the trolleybus plate, a scarce example, has chips around the screw-holes. [2]
