A 19th century Chinese blue and white ginger jar, decorated with figures, with later wooden lid and stand, four character mark to base, height including stand 20 cm, two lidded flasks and a polychrome ginger jar. CONDITION REPORT: This ginger jar is in good condition with no chips, cracks or restorations. The pierced hardwood cover has slight damage and loss together with a shrinkage crack to the rim. Both the blue and white tea caddies are fairly modern and in good condition. The Chinese famille noir ginger jar and cover appears to the 20th century, this has no chipping, cracking or restoration but there is a small amount of wear to the enamel decoration which appears to be slight chipping to the black enamel, it has a pierced hardwood stand which is in good condition and is engraved with Chinese character marks.
A collection of principally Chinese vases, tea bowls and saucers. Tallest 18 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The Japanese gourd shaped miniature vase has a hairline crack running from the rim down to the waisted section. The blue and white vase with cover has a broken and repaired rim and the finial to the lid has been broken and repaired. The blue and white baluster shaped vase is in good condition. The Cantonese baluster shaped vase has some wear to the decoration to the rim and other minor enamel loss. The larger saucer has a small chip to the rim whilst the smaller saucer has a broken and repaired rim. The teacup has three small chips to the rim whilst the tea bowl appears to be in good condition.
Three late 18th/early 19th century Chinese plates, one Imari and two decorated with chrysanthemum, fence and buildings. Each diameter 23 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The Imari palette plate has a small flake chip to the rim, but otherwise appears to be in good order. The plate with flowers and trellis design to centre has some loss to the enamelled decoration to centre the third plate with a view of buildings and mountains to centre again has some loss to the enamel decoration to centre, but otherwise is in a good condition.The Amari palette plate has a small flake chip to the rim, but otherwise appears to be in good order. A pair of Chinese stands, each decorated with birds and blossom. Height 22 cm. CONDITION REPORT: These stands are late 19th century and of trapezoid shape. Both have light wear to the enamel decoration throughout. One of the stands has a hairline crack to the glaze on one side, but otherwise they appear to be in a fair condition.
A collection of Chinese and other eastern snuff bottles, ceramic, enamel, silver coloured metal, jewelled and inlaid mother of pearl, variously set with jade, amber, etc. and a hardback book "Chinese Snuff Bottles" by Lilla S. Perry. Tallest 85 mm. CONDITION REPORT: The blue porcelain snuff bottle has a hairline crack running for +/- 4.5 cm. The folding double snuff bottle has no stoppers. The enamelled example is in good order with no issues. The three other metal snuff bottles are in good order with no issues. The moon shaped example is missing its stopper top.
A French boulle work mantle clock, early 19th century with eight day movement chiming on a gong, the dial with enamel Roman numerals and an outer engraved minutes chapter ring above an applied gilt metal scrolling panel, engraved to the centre Margueritte Paris, with classical flaming pearl and leaf embellishments, the back plate further engraved Margueritte Paris. Height 58.5 cm, width 31.5 cm (see illustration).
A large pair of 19th century Cantonese vases, decorated with panels of figures in typical Canton colours. Height 62 cm, diameter at top 21.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: These are an impressive pair of vases but both do have condition issues, with both being broken and repaired to the necks. In addition one of the vases has a star crack towards the body of the vase. Please see additional images. The condition of the enamel decoration itself is good overall with very little surface wear or loss.
A Victorian ruby-set gold snake ring, the hinged snake set with graduated circular-cut rubies, with rose-cut diamond eyes and blue enamel decoration in gold, with internal latin inscription 'Amor Aeternus' (Eternal Love), size P Accompanied by report number 18973 dated 15 September 2020 from GCS stating that the oval-shaped ruby weighs 1.19cts and is a natural ruby with no indications of heat treatment.
