A French late 19thC bronze and marble cased mantel clock by Miroy Freres a Paris, circular enamel dial bearing Roman numerals, eight day movement with bell strike, the case surmounted with a bronze recumbent classical woman with musical instruments, raised on a serpentine veined green and black marble base, 87cm x 44cm.
A 19th century Chinese porcelain famille rose inverted baluster vase and cover, decorated in the typical manner with mirrored reserves of traditional figures of the court and colourful birds, butterflies, ripe fruit and blossoming flowers, green and pink enamel ground picked out in gilt, the neck and shoulder applied with two gilded ferocious dragons pursuing the flaming pearl, the domed cover with gilded mythical beast finial, 31cm high, Canton, c. 1870
Walter Frank Knight OBE (1885 - 1972) - The Festival of Britain 1950-51 processional cross, silver-plated sheet copper, centred at the top and base by two enamel roundels of Angus Dei and a Pelican of Piety, the trumpet-shaped crucifix points engraved with flowering leafy tendrils and picked out with mercurial gilding, alternating rope twist and beaded borders, 57cm high, 30cm wide, c. 1950-51Provenance: Exhibited at Lambeth Palace, Lambeth, London, 1950 - 1951; purchased by James Strang, Esq., of Fife, Scotland; with W.F. Knight Ltd. of Northamptonshire and purchased from the same company again 16th May 2005, typed and signed letter from the latter.
