The body is highlighted with chrysanthemums in white, yellow, violet and pink seemingly growing out of the same bush. Each of the graduated colors is bounded by brass wire and adorn the urn a lively and vibrant composition. Raised on circular carved footed stands.Condition: Minor scrapes to lower side of one vase. A VERY LARGE SATSUMA GILDED AND DECORATED VASES WITH WOOD STANDSJapan, Circa 1940The large elaborate baluster form vase having a ruffled lip and a floral patterned ground; the narrow neck decorated with two rosette medallions and a diaper pattern reserve; the body with two large reserves, one depicting a geisha and her attendant, the other two samurai and their attendants, both in a mountain lake setting; two fully modeled Buddhist lions grasp the shoulder, each holding a ring in its mouth to which a relief tassel is tied in a series of knots; all rendered in colorful raised enamel decoration and extensive gilding; no marks on underside; with a carved stained wood base.Condition: Spots on tassels may or may not be deliberate; a vertical scratch at top of neck above a rosette medallion; a few dings and dimples made during manufacturing.Vase: 39 ¼ x 22 x 19 inches (99.7 x 55.9 x 48.2 cm); stand: 7 ½ inches high (19 cm).Two pieces total. A CHINESE CLOISONNÉ LIDDED WATER PITCHER19th CenturyThe surface of the large copper “monk`s cap ewer” completely covered with cloisonné decoration in the form of spiraling leafy branches interspersed with lotus flowers and other Buddhist emblems of good fortune; the elaborate patinated copper dragon handle with cloisonné under-body scales and painted enamel tail tuft; a flaming symbol in high relief on the inside of the monk`s cap.Condition: One scallop on monk`s cap bent; another`s edge flattened, exposing the copper beneath. Bottom of body repaired; possibly worn through with use.
