A French alabaster mantel clock, late 19th Century, Portefais of Paris The carved upper finial with figural depiction of Diana the Huntress astride a bull, extending to an architectural case, raised on compressed bun feet, the brass enamel dial flanked by maenads, dial signed Portefais of Paris, 45cm high.
*Four oil-powered lamps. A Premier Lamp and Engineering Co. miner's safety lamp, having a threaded oil reservoir, hand controls and etched glass shade, a Duntaffell cart lamp with its correct oil illuminant, a square pattern oil side lamp and a British Rail, clear, red and green guards hand-lamp with a near perfect black enamel finish, all in good, sound condition (4)
*Arthur Brown. A bronze and enamel medal awarded to the driver at the Kent & Sussex Light Car Club Meeting at The Lewes Speed Trials, inscribed verso, 'Handicap Class Fourth - A. Baron - 13-5-33', the medal comes with its original spring clip and lined presentation box, a photocopy of the car and driver comes its sale (1)
*RAC. A rare 1953 Coronation enamel badge with a King's Crown and the profile of QEII wearing the Queen's Crown centre, also a 1961-1990s grille mounted full member's badge and a (type 10A) 1949-1953 full member's grille mounting badge, also, a pair of RAC Rally of GB lapel badges dated bars, all display-mounted (4)
*AA Committee Badge. A type 4 'Stenson Cooke' entwined AA badge with a fixed flag at the top with 'AA' inscribed in black enamel, but no facility for mounting a yellow backing plate, numbered OC 37 below the inscribed 'Secretary', and the letters 'RR' just below the left-hand mounting hole verso, nickel-plated, with signs of use, 20 cm high (1)
*Finishers Plaque, 1930 Automobile Club of Deutschland (ADAC) Auslands Tourenfahrt, a highly decorative enamel and gilt presentation plaque for the 1930 International Tour showing a covered piazza, with palm trees and buildings, a large, interestingly-shaped plaque with five-colour enamels on a gilt base, 2 3/4 x 3 1/2 ins, good condition (1)
*Automobile Club d'Alsace. A large grille-mounted full membership badge dating circa 1920, being the rare first version having a wheel device with the aforementioned wording highlighted in dark blue enamel and a red enamelled depiction of the region's shield centre, in sound condition, a little rubbing to the surface (1)
*Car Badges. A collection of badges including Rolls Royce Ltd Motor Club badge, black enamel and chrome winged badge, stamped WB to reverse, 13.5 cm wide (damaged), two enamel and gilt metal badges for Real Automovil Club De Cataluna with two rear fixing posts, 10 cm long, Automobile Association members badge and other items (8)
*An Oil-Powered Hub Lamp. A facsimile lamp manufactured to a particularly high standard about thirty years ago, made in the Lucas 'Divided Style' of circa 1884 with a single sprung clip at the base, but with the earlier pick-wick wick holder, and no slot for a winding mechanism, incorporated are two red side glasses, a circular rear glass, and a bevelled edge 3-inch front glass, all in perfect condition, in full working order, it is finished in a matt black enamel, and an out-of-period oval badge is fitted to the front (1)
*A 1973 Raleigh gentleman's bicycle in original, 'little used' condition, with a 21-inch black enamel frame, chromium-plating bright parts, cable-operated calliper brakes, aluminium pump, chain guard, brown leather saddle, 3-speed Sturmey Archer hub gear, saddle bag and mudguards. Ready to ride away (1)
*Circa 1898 Quadrant Tricycle. Finished in green enamel and complemented with good nickel-plating, this machine is in campaigning condition, drive to the rear wheels is by a combination differential and contracting band brake differential, to 26-inch wheels, the inch-pitch block chain like the chain wheel is in good condition with the nickel-plated handlebars possessing celluloid grips and a fitted Lucas LSD bell, other features include foot rests fitted to the front forks, new tyres, leather saddle and correct rear luggage support (1)
*A circa 1923 Centaur Cross-Frame 'Model 11', gentleman's roadster, with a 23-inch black enamel frame and nickel-plated parts, this is an older restoration and features a single speed chain set with a 'High' 7-inch crank, rat trap pedals, 28-inch Westwood rims and tyres, down-turned 20-inch handlebars with stem fitted short brake levers operating stirrup brakes to both wheels, a Brooks B66 leather saddle and a Lucas bell are fitted, the steering lock is broken (1)
*A 1912 Centaur Featherweight Gentleman's Bicycle. Restored to a very high standard about 22-years ago, and little used since, the 26-inch frame is numbered 160240 and possesses a delightful black enamel finish with gilt box lining, good old-style nickel-plating, deep-set mudguards and a modern but period-looking light brown Brooks B10 saddle. Other features include an Armstrong 3-speed hub gear with its correct handlebar mounted control, roller levers operating stirrup brakes back and front, rat trap pedals and a small chain wheel fitted as standard. No pump is fitted This bicycle comes with two typed documents outlining the detailed work carried out in 1994, and a typed postcard from the late Alan Hawkes, one-time Centaur marque enthusiast. (2)
*A circa 1904 'Columbia' gentleman's 'Model 45' roadster by The Pope Mfg, Co., having a 24-inch frame with a delightful black enamel finish, the inch-pitch block chain and sprockets are in good condition, one-piece 7-inch cranks with rat trap pedals are fitted and retain their original nickel-plating. The semi up-turned 21-inch hickory handlebars, favoured by Columbia at this time to special order, possess old style cork grips. The saddle is an early Christy type, and a frame-mounted tool bag is fitted together with a Hine Watt 'Columbia Model C' acetylene gas lamp. A good original bicycle with wooden rims and cream 26-inch tyres (1)
*A circa 1898 Columbia Rear-Steering Tandem. A 'Model 48' lady-front bicycle having been well restored with correct old style nickel-plating which complements the black enamel frame, two 26-inch wooden rims are fitted, having wire-tangent spoking, a solid rubber tyre to the front and a rubber protection ring to the rear. A Christy saddle and a period leather saddle are fitted, as well as two sets of nickel-plated open-frame pedals. The chain wheels and double-linked chain appear to be in good useable condition. The Columbia badge is in good fettle with easy to read patent details covering the period from 1885 to 1896. A circa 1900 'Twentieth Century' oil lamp is fitted (1)
*Fabrique Nationale Shaft Drive Bicycle. An early twentieth century bicycle with a 24 1/2-inch frame, 17-inch handlebars with grey celluloid grips, 28-inch Westwood rims finished in black enamel with gilt accentuation lines and cream tyres fitted, the shaft drive mechanism appears to be intact and working well benefitting from original cranks and period pedals. Front and rear oil lamps are fitted, as are front fork mounted foot rests, leather saddle and a plunger brake (1)
*A circa 1931 Raleigh Record. A forerunner of the Record Ace, a lower frame model with a number of 16761, having a black enamel finish and decals, the 22-inch frame includes a chain wheel dated 'S' (1931), driving a double fixed hub, Endrick rims with wingnuts back and front, a Bowden cable operated contracting brake to the front wheel, North Road handlebars mounted on a single tube extension, Raleigh pneumatic pump, rat-trap pedals with toe clips and a Lucas 'Calcia Cadet' acetylene gas lamp fitted to the nearside fork with a bell and a B17 saddle (1)
