A PAIR OF 19TH CENTURY GILT BRASS & ENAMEL OPERA GLASSES BY MAISON DE L'INGENIEUR CHEVALLIER with a mother of pearl focus adjuster and handle, the barrels intricately hand-painted with panels of alternating landscape scenes and bird and animal studies, the eye-pieces marked to the rim 'L'Ing'r Chevallier Opticien du Roi' and 'vis a vis le marche aux fleurs', in a fitted leather-covered case.
Attributed to Charles Robert Ashbee (1863-1942) for Guild of Handicraft Silver rose bowl, 1904 the hammered bowl fitting into frame decorated with lion masks flanked by wing shaped blue enamel, raised on fluted legs and lion paw feet stamped "GofHLtd" and with English silver standard mark, date letter and hallmark for London 15.4cm high, 27.5cm diameter.
