The East Herts Celtic Cheek Piece Celtic, bronze cheek piece, early 1st century AD, rod-like with a rectangular central opening and expanding terminals, red enamelled triangular shaped cells between incised petal motifs decorated along one side, 9.6cm long by 1.8cm wide. Very fine with olive green patina and 80% of enamel remaining; a finely executed example of late Iron Age enamelled art £400-£600
Medieval, a 12th century gilt-brass Limoges mount of a saint, 60mm high by 25mm wide, head and body of a draped male figure with a moulded solid head, long nose and circular blue glass eyes (one remaining), long neck with a rectangular hollowed-out body which is perforated centrally at the top and bottom, recessed longitudinal cells containing remains of white, red and blue champleve enamel. Fine with approximately 10% of the enamelling intact £80-£100
13th-14th century, horse pendants (3), gilt pendant and holder decorated with three crowns with red enamel (arms of Bury St Edmunds); shield shape decorated with an expanding cross; circular with lobes decorated with an eagle, head left and wings outstretched [3]. Mostly fine or better £150-£180

A RARE JAPANESE KYO YAKI (KYOTO WARE) BOWL EDO PERIOD, 18TH CENTURY The square-section body with indented corners, the exterior decorated with a large peony flowerhead and scrolling tendrils painted in thick blue enamel on the unctuous chocolate-brown ground, the rim with a kintsugi gold lacquer repair, 9.6cm. (2) Provenance: from the collection of Dr Oliver Impey (1936-2005), and Dr Jane (Mellanby) Impey (1938-2021), of Cumnor Place, Oxford. Cf. Nihon no Toji (Ceramics of Japan), vol.13, Kyoto Wares, p.164, no.48, for a double-gourd wine bottle with comparable brown and blue enamel decoration.
TWO CHINESE TEAPOTS AND COVERS KANGXI 1662-1722 AND 19TH CENTURY Each with an upright handle, the famille verte teapot painted with cartouches containing blossoming flowers, the Canton enamel teapot decorated with floral panels and lotus scrolls reserved on a yellow ground, the Canton teapot 184g, 19cm and 13.5cm. An 18ct gold, ruby and enamel dome flower ring. The ring having a floral motif made up of six round cut claw set ruby to emulate petals surrounded by five green enamelled leaves on etched design shoulders on a tapered shank. Central bezel set stone missing & some wear to enamel. Pink stones measure approx 2 x 2 x 1.3mm. Weighs approx 4.3g. Size O.
