Royal Marine Light Infantry Victorian Officer’s helmet plate circa 1878-1901.A good gilt crowned star mounted with laurel sprays joined at the top by ‘Gibraltar’ scroll; fouled anchor to the junction below. Within the sprays, a pierced strap inscribed ‘Per Mare Per Terram’ on blue enamel ground. To the centre, a silver globe in relief. Mounted beneath the sprays, a silver strung bugle. Royal Army Medical Corps Medals of Colonel William Lewis Gray CMG.A fine group spanning 34 years of military service. Comprising: The Order of St. Michael and St. George, C.M.G., neck badge, silver-gilt and enamel (case of issue), India General Service Medal, Clasp “Relief of Chitral 1895”, “SURG CAPT W.L. GRAY A.M.S”, Queen’s South Africa Medal, four clasps “Cape Colony”, “Orange Free State”, “Transvaal”, “South Africa 1901”, “MAJOR R.A.M.C”, 1914/15 Star, “LT. COL. RAMC”, British War Medal, Victory Medal, MID Oak Leaf, “COL.”. Campaign group remains mounted as worn. Colonel William Lewis Gray CMG. was born in 1864, after being educated at Edinburgh University he was appointed a Surgeon of the Army Medical Staff on the 5th February 1887. He is confirmed at the Relief of Chitral and for his services in South Africa he was Mentioned in Despatches on the 2nd April 1901. At the outbreak of the Great War he was serving in India and was posted to France landing on the 4th September 1915. He remained there until the 12th January 1917 when he was posted to be the C.O. of The Royal Herbert Hospital Woolwich. His announcement of the C.M.G. appeared in the London Gazette on the 1st January 1917 and was Mentioned in Despatches on two occasions. Having attained the age limit he retired from military service on the 21st October 1921. He died of pneumonia in November 1924.
Victorian Royal National Lifeboat Institution Decorations.Two examples of the RNA Decoration awarded for support given to the RNA. Comprising: 1st Type 1901-1912. A gold coloured metal example, engraved to the reverse “PRESENTED BY THE ROYAL NATIONAL LIFEBOAT INSTITUTION TO THE REV. JOHN BROWN IN RECOGNITION OF HIS VALUABLE COOPERATION 1901”. Retaining original blue silk bow ribbon. No chips to enamel. .... Accompanied by a silver 2nd type example. This bearing silver hallmarks London 1912 (unnamed) small flake to blue enamel. (2 items)This decoration was introduced in 1901 in two classes Gold and Silver. Awarded to Branch Members who had given valuable service. The initial issue in 1901 was 36 awards, with 18 later awarded. In 1912 the design of the medal was changed but proved unpopular with King George V and design was again changed in 1914. No silver examples were awarded.

Tapered pin to reverse which bears raised maker’s STH logo, ‘Ges. Gersh’ and stamped ‘A’. Minor service wear. GCFounded in 1918, badges appear with dates 1919 to 1932 and denote the year the member joined the organisation.

Slivered eagle’s head pommel with feathered backstrap, knuckle bow and ferrule, outspread eagle and swastika to both langets; brown leather wire bound grip. Plated 83 cm plain slightly curved blade with single fuller, the ricasso stamped with single rune, housed in its black enamel painted scabbard with single loose suspension ring. A little service wear, generally VGC.
German Third Reich. SS Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler Officer’s sword circa 1934-36 by WKC.A fine and very rare example carried by an Officer of Hitler’ Personal Bodyguard. Heavily silver plated lion head pommel with green glass eyes, ornate backstrap, oakleaf ornamented knuckle bow and ferrule, crossguard terminating in further lion’s head; obverse langet wear integral SS Sigrunen, reverse with LAH cypher. Plated 81 cm plain slightly curved blade with single fuller, bearing WKC knight’s head logo on the ricasso, housed in its black enamel painted scabbard with single loose suspension ring. Very minor service wear VGC.Note. From 1934 until 1936 SS Officers were permitted to wear a variety of swords similar to the Army but with silvered fittings in place of gold. In 1936, the more familiar SS Degen sword was introduced and all Officers were required to wear this pattern.

Höller, Solingen.A good example with plated single edged 195 mm blade with central fuller bearing maker’s oval thermometer logo and etched panel of machine gunner, artillery and Panzer with oakleaf ornamented scroll ‘Fur Erinnureng an meine Dienstzeit’. Turn up quillon and pommel with two piece black chequered composition grips secured with two rivets, eagle head pommel with working ‘eye’ catch. Housed in its black enamel painted steel scabbard. GC
German Third Reich 1936 NSKK Leader’s dagger by scarce maker HACO, BerlinA fine rare example with nickel mounts, the blade etched ‘Alles für Deutschland’ and bearing etched maker’s circular logo. Brown wooden grip inlaid with silvered eagle and swastika and enamelled circular SA device; crossguard stamped with ‘S’ for Group Sud (Munich). Housed in original black enamel painted scabbard with nickel mounts, retaining the chains of alternate rectangular panels of mobile swastikas and NSKK winged devices terminating in oakleaf ornamented spring clip. Reverse of top link of upper chain marked ‘Mustershitz NSKK-Korpsfuhrung’, top link of lower chain stamped with RZM logo and ‘M5/8’. Blade retipped, minor service wear. VGCNSKK (National Socialist Motor Corps). These chained daggers were introduced in 1936 under the auspices of Adolf Huhnlein.

A good scarce example, the blade etched ‘Meine Ehre heist Treue’ (My Honour is Loyalty), the reverse with maker’s star and baker logo. Nickel plated mounted black wooden grip inlaid with silvered eagle and swastika and enamelled SS Sigrunen. Housed in black enamel painted scabbard with single suspension ring. Grip fittings finish beginning to lift, reverse of crossguard with some corrosion. GC

Ornate gilt crowned Collar of the Order of the Garter mounted with red and blue translucent enamel silvered and gilt Garter Star flanked by LG cypher, reversed and entwined, supported by scrolls ‘Peninsula’ and ‘Waterloo’. Crimson velvet backing with shaped back plate. Four screw posts to reverse. VGC
7th Foot (Royal Fusiliers) Victorian pre 1855 Officer’s shoulder belt plate.A very fine and attractive rich gilt example. Rococo style seeded gilt plate with raised border ornamented with Acanthus leaves bearing large gilt rose surmounted by a Guelphic style crown superimposed on diagonal pierced Garter with rich blue translucent enamel backing. Reverse retains original two hooks and two studs. Enamel defective otherwise GC. (Parkyn 114)

Rectangular gilt plate mounted with cut silver Grand Cross Star of The Most Honourable Order of the Bath; mounted on the star, a gilt crowned laurel sprays superimposed on a Maltese cross; to the centre, within a pierced circlet ‘Bedfordshire’. ‘16’ on a blue enamel ground. Reverse retains original fixings, comprising two hooks and two studs. VGC

Bright gilt rectangular plate mounted with silvered Star of the Order of the Thistle with central gilt motto and Thistle set on a green enamel ground. Below the star, a silvered scroll inscribed “The Royal Scots”. Reverse with two hooks and one of two studs. GC
Chinese tea bowl cup and saucer and Nanking Cargo pair of teacups with elaborate loop handle and saucers with blue Chrysanthemum Rock pattern and enamel D: 13 cm H: 7 cm CONDITION REPORT: Few minor chips to rims of cups and minor losses to saucer glazing but there is no visible restoration.
