Omar Ramsden (British, 1873-1939) & Alwyn C. E. Carr (British, 1872-1940) A copper and green enamel charger 1901 Signed 'Omar Ramsden & Alwyn C. E. Carr Made Me 1901' verso This large Arts & Craft copper charger, with a central boss with coiled snake and green enamel design, is early on in the partnership of renowned British silversmiths Omar Ramsden and Alwyn Carr. The pair met at Sheffield School of Art and won their first joint commission in 1898, setting up a studio in Chelsea not long afterwards. This charger dates from 1901, very early on in their career, and is unusual both for its large size and the fact that it is in copper. Dimensions: 24 in. (diam.)
