An 18th Century oak cased long case clock, the eight day movement with enamelled and painted arch dial, sun and moon phase, above a painted chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals enclosing a subsidiary seconds dial and painted scene of shepherdess seated, a crook in her left hand and various sheep at her feet, inscribed "Prideaux, Coalbrookdale" within floral painted spandrels, the main trunk with shell marquetry inlaid medallion flanked by quarter cut fluted side pilasters, raised on a cross-banded base, 55 cm wide max, 240 cm high CONDITION REPORTS The piece has some areas of damage conducive with age and use to the case with areas of splitting and repair in several areas (see images for detail). The face has some chipping to the enamel, particularly to the edges. The movement appears to be intact and reasonably clean suggesting that it has been looked after certainly in the past though unknown if in working order (see image). The base of the case has signs of old woodworm and splitting to the centre panel. There are signs of splitting and damage to the canted side pilasters. Please see images for further detail of this wear/damage. Please note the height 240 cm is already mentioned in the catalogue description.
A Chinese Canton enamel on copper bowl, the centre field decorated with figures in an interior within four further panels depicting further figures and a wide rim decorated with peaches and pomegranates and floral sprays interspersed by panels of figures and boats, the underside turquoise ground, decorated with floral sprays, 43 cm diameter x 11.8 cm high, together with a near-matching jug, the main front panel decorated with figures and horse in a watery landscape, on a fruit and floral decorated turquoise ground with green ground simulated bamboo handle, 25 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Basically has all over significant damage, loss of the enamel, limescale marks, scratches and cracking etc throughout. The handle appears to be original although very different in style to the rest of the jug. The bowl is in similar condition although has had an attempt at some repairs, mainly to the base. Thomas Russell & Son full hunter crown wind pocket watch, not working. Circular white enamel dial with black roman indices and minute track to outer, sub seconds dial at 6 o'clock position, blued steel hands, plain hinged cover to front, plain hinged double covers to rear which open to reveal a keyless quarter repeating movement signed Thos Russell Liverpool, outer cover internally stamped 'Illinois Watch Case Co, Elgin USA', inner cover stamped Please note carefully the exclusion of liability for the condition of lots contained in the Conditions of Sale. Watch is currently functioning but repeating mechanism seems to stick occasionally suggesting a service is required, plating to outer case is wearing through.
