A 1930's Shelley tea set with square fluted cups, floral decoration, 21 pieces; a 1930's Aynsley 7 piece part tea set with butterfly handles CONDITION REPORT: Shelley: 1 cup = 1"hairline frm rim pattern 11561E, 1 sugar bowl hairline around over half base edge Aynsley: sugar bowl hairline crack 2" from rim chip to rim of teapot near handle, cup - chip to butterfly wing handle, teapot stand - some wear to green enamel, likewise saucers with rim chip to one jug only appears ok
Glazed buff coloured part tea service circa 1820, probably North-East, printed in sepia with women with children after Adam Buck, to include a lidded teapot, lidded sucrier, cream jug, four teacups and four saucers, circa 1810 (13) Condition report: Small chip to teapot spout, inner rim and glazed over rim chip. One cup has a glazed over rim chip. Another has a hairline to the lower handle join. Minor scratches to the brown enamel borders.
Lakin drab ware dessert service circa 1815, with sprig moulded floral borders painted en grisaille with landscapes, comprising of two pairs of dishes and six plates, impressed marks to bases, (10) Together with a copy of The Northern Ceramic Society Journal Volume 5 1984 which has a Harold Blakey's article on Thomas Lakin. Condition report: One heart shape dish has a rim crack. One rectangular dish has a rim nick, the other a foot chip. One plate has a minor rim nick. There is some gilt wear and black enamel flaking. Overall fine crazing.
Davenport footed basket and two heart shaped dishes, painted with leaves in black enamel, anchor marks to bases, also a Lakin silver lustre basket and stand, early 19th century, (5) Condition report: Each Davenport piece has restoration to the rims, the Lakin basket has old filled joins, and associated cracks, some wear to the silver lustre.
Pearlware part tea and coffee service attributed to Sewell, printed in terracotta with tea party patterns, to include a coffee pot, and teapot, cream jug, sucrier, three cups and five saucers (15) Condition report: The coffee pot has small chips to the spout and cover, the teapot has small restored chips to the edge of the cover. The cover has a glued finial and restored cover chips. The three cups have hairlines, two have rim chips. Some losses to the enamel.
Sewell pearlware cruet set and matching basket and stand circa 1820, with central perched bird finial, fitted with two bottles, salt and pepper and mustard pot, painted with trailing Scottish thistle design, impressed marks to bases, (9) the cruet set measures 25cm high Illustrated in 'St Anthony's Pottery Newcastle upon Tyne' in the Northern Ceramic Society Occasional publication No.4 1993, Condition report: The cruet stand has sections of the gallery restuck, the pepper pot has a glazed over rim chip. The mustard pot cover has been restuck, and has a restuck foot chip. One bottle has staining. The basket has old restoration to the inside of the base but not the underneath. The stand has a tiny section of the basket weave restuck. Some small enamel flakes.
Collection of Stoneware Dry bodied stoneware three piece teaset possibly Lakin moulded with figures painted with over glaze blue, together a with a similar teapot moulded with vases, also a Wilson olive green teapot and similar lidded dish with silver handle, early 19th century (11) Condition report: The first teapot has small chips to the spout and cover, the sucrier has a restuck cover, old remade handle, and a hairline crack to the side. The cream jug has a touched in enamel chip. The second teapot has a minor chip to the spout. The Wilson teapt has a chip to the cover and damage to the spout, the lidded bowl has small chips to the rim.
Four creamware baskets, two with stands, one impressed Turner, another Sewell, painted with floral borders, early 19th century, (6) the largest basket measures 29.5cm wide Condition report: The Turner basket has good restoration to a small section. The Sewell basket has a minor chip to one strand. The smallest basket has a crack to the side. Some enamel flakes to each piece.
Four Shelley Mabel Lucie Attwell Pixie models model numbers L.A. 10, 11, 13, and 17, printed marks to base, (4) 7.5cm high Condition report: The pixie on horseback has been broken and restuck, one ear missing, the model with watering can has a chipped ear, the other two models are free from damages or restorations but have very minor green enamel scuffs.
Three Dutch decorated Creamware plates dated 1785, 1813, and 1819, two impressed Sewell and Donkin, (3) 25.5cm diameter See N.C.S. issue 134 June 2004 Page 29 for an article on these plates by Harold Blakey. Condition report: No damage or restoration. There is some enamel flaking to each plate. Some patches of fine crazing.
Leeds Creamware coffee pot circa 1780, decorated in the Rhodes Workshop manor with chintz type decoration with flora between panels, with moulded dolphin head spout and entwined handle, together with a similar non matching cover, (2) 24.5cm high Condition report: minor hairline to one of the handle joins. Flaking to the enamel. The lid has a restuck section and some chipping.
Creamware small tureen Probably Wedgwood, with pierced cover and floral finial, also a Neale & Co. plate with over glaze blue decoration and another plate impressed Wedgwood printed and painted in green with shells, early 19th century (4) diameter of the largest plate: 22cm diameter Condition report: Some good restoration to the cover of the tureen and to the side of the base. Firing crack to the edge. Minor chips to the finial. No other damage or restoration. Some flaking and wear to the blue enamel.
Five pieces of Creamware / Pearlware painted with Botanical studies, to include a lidded supper dish segment and four dishes, one impressed with a crowned 'G' for Neale & Co. another Wedgwood, all with hand painted subject titles, early 19th century, (6) The largest dish measures 29cm wide. Condition report: The lidded dish has a short crack and filled rim chip, there is some flaking and retouching to the enamel. The Wedgwood dish has some wear and a restored crack. The other rectangular dish has a small restored area. The is crazing to all and signs of wear.
Two Prattware teapots circa 1800, both with moulded bodies, one with swan finial, the other with cherub finial, painted in Pratt colours, (4) The tallest teapot measures 15.5cm high PLEASE NOTE: This lot has been left out of the printed catalogue in error. This lot will still be sold on Wednesday 16th September as part of Blakey Collection Condition report: The swan finial teapot has a glazed over chip to the spout and a firing crack to the rim. The cherub teapot has minor chips to the inner rim and underside of cover. There is occasional brown enamel loss. Overall crazing.
