A pair of aluminum opera glasses, with blue enamel. CONDITION REPORT: The lenses are in good order, no signs of any cracks or mould but there is dust to the interior. The metal shows sign of damage towards the objective lens commensurate with being dropped against something hard. This would be approximately 4 mm in length. The enamel is in generally very good condition although there are losses to most of the silver star motifs but they are still in good useable condition.
A pair of Japanese Cloisonne vases, decorated with birds and butterflies to blue ground and with integral metal bases. Height 36 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: One vase is in very good condition with no particular issues. There is some slight discolouration to the enamel in one area to the right of one of the birds in flight but no chips or cracks to the enamel. The second vase is in generally good condition. It is not misshapen but does have some surface crazing and hairline type fractures caused by being knocked. There is one small area of enamel missing approximately 2 mm square and roughness around the same area. The damage is not significant but is visible on close inspection. One of the feet on the same vase is misshapen indicating that the piece has probably been dropped at some point.
A large pair of Japanese Cloisonne vases, decorated with birds and branches. Height 46 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: One vase is in generally very good condition with no significant damage. It has the usual minor surface hairline cracks to the enamel in areas but no significant dents, dings or enamel losses. The top lip and foot rim are not damaged or bent out of shape. The second vase does have one enamel loss. There is a 1 cm square area of enamel missing in the blue ground. The vase does not look to have been dropped but must have knocked against something. Other than this the only minor issues are the usual small areas of hairline fractures to the surface of the body which are all as per the other vase slightly discoloured. There is also one small surface ding to the blue ground just below the shoulder. This is rough to touch and approximately .5 cm square.
A late 19th century French Champleve enamel and brass carriage clock, timepiece only. Height excluding carrying handle 11.8 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement is fully wound. It does however tick for approximately 10 secs when shaken. The movement is very dirty and requires a good clean. The case is in structurally good condition but the brasswork has lost much of its original gilding and lacquer. The glass panels are extremely dirty but do not appear to have any damage. The enamel work is in good condition. The face is tarnished and dirty, the escapement is original.
A pair of silver and enamel cufflinks, cased, and an enamelled thimble. CONDITION REPORT: The surfaces of the cufflinks are in generally good condition with no significant scratching or any enamel losses. The colours are generally bright and crisp. Some of the metal is a little discoloured but we think that this is simply dirt. The only real issue is that one of the cufflinks has a break in one of the chain links and the two sides are separated. There are no links missing in that the undamaged one has five links as does the broken one. We would imagine the repair to be fairly straight forward
