A c.1930s London Underground enamel direction sign showing 'WAY OUT / AND TO / PICCADILLY LINE / PLATFORMS 3, 4 & 5','WAY OUT' inside bullseye pierced by three-flight arrow facing right, possibly from Holborn station, sign in bronze frame and mounted on backing board,height 45.7cm, width 76.2cmCondition: The sign has had several losses and areas of retouching, notably to the white enamel just below the arrow flight roughly 3cm square but has dribbled to the left, a 1cm spot below the 'T' in 'OUT', and some white filler on the second 'C' in 'PICCADILLY', loss to the enamel about 1cm long in bottom left hand corner, there are a number of black and blue streaks to enamel surface, discolouration lines to top, left hand side and bottom edges, a number of light surface scratches, scratches and spotting to bronze frame, See the London Transport Museum collection for a similar sign with arrow facing to the left, reference number 1997/1509, described as probably from Holborn station

A c.1930s London Underground enamel direction sign displaying 'TROLLEYBUSES',a double sided signed with blue lettering on cream ground, showing bullesye pierced by three-flighted arrow facing right (left on reverse), in metal frame with mounts for attaching to a post,height 32.9cm, width 66.2cmCondition: Front of the sign has a number of losses to the enamel which have corroded, notably some spots no bigger than a 5p piece on the 'T', the 'E', above the 'B' and between the 'E' & 'S', smaller spots above and to the right of the arrow, lower right of the bullseye and on the second 'L', numerous other marks and scratches to surface, staining to corners and along edges, paint loss to metal frame, reverse has some spots of corrosion and loss notably above the 'L' and to the final 'S', general rubbing of the enamel over a large area of the surface, streaking stains to edge particularly the left hand edgeSee London Transport Museum collection for a similar example, reference 1998/90723
