An 18 ct gold diamond and enamelled ring, size O. CONDITION REPORT: Weight 5.5 grams. The centre enamel band has a chip. The extreme right enamelled band also has a chip. There are other minor surface scratches to all five enamelled bands. All diamonds are present. The shank is in good order and the hallmark clear.
A silver novelty desk clock in the form of a horseshoe, Douglas Clock Co, Birmingham 1897, gilt metal back and easel support, Registration No. RD.No 254459, in plush fitted presentation case. Height 8.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Overall this is in nice clean condition as it has been protected by its case. There is however a small dent to the bottom right hand edge of the horseshoe. The minute hand from the watch is loose. The movement appears to work. The second hand moves when the movement is agitated. There is a series of small hairline cracks on the enamel dial located around the number 3. There is a further small crack issuing from the centre of the dial pointing towards the number 5. The clock casing appears to be original but does not sit flush when laid on its back therefore the case does not fully shut. The engine turned and gilded back is a little loose and is slightly rubbed. The interior lining of the doors is frayed through use.
Sewing accessories and miscellanea, to include a Mauchline ware tape measure print decoration of the summit house Massachusetts, a Treen turned wood needle case, a silver thimble, a boxwood turret form dice shaker, an ivory locket, a 19th century gilt metal and enamelled buckle and a silver mounted horn beaker (7) CONDITION REPORT: The silver plated rim to the horn beaker is a little loose it is also extremely dirty. The beaker itself is in generally good condition with only minor surface scuffs and marks. There are no splits and no significant damage. The tureen turret has a threaded interior. There will have been some form of lid which is missing. The turret itself has various old marks and stress fractures to the body. There are also nibbles around the foot rim and top rim. The tape measure is a little tired. The turnings are rubbed and scuffed and the piece has clearly been well used. The tape is very stiff in the mount. It does not seem to operate as it should. The turned needle case is in good condition with no issues. The belt buckle has one small loss to the enamel and other minor surface marks. The small oval locket is extremely dirty and has numerous surface marks. It is however all present and closes as it should. The hinges are original.
An original enamel railway sign, early 20th Century, "The conditions upon which tickets, including season tickets, are issued, and the conditions applicable to passengers, luggage etc, can be obtained free of charge on application to the booking clerk" all in white against a chocolate brown ground, 10 cm x 15 cm
A sedan clock, early 19th Century, having an enamel dial with Arabic numerals within a turned lignum mount with brass back plate and suspension loop (movement missing), an ivory label to the interior inscribed "Cousens 61 George Street, Portland Square, London, W", the dial 10 cm CONDITION REPORT: The clock glass is in good order with only very minor blemishes. The brass bezel and hinge are in good condition. There is no movement at the hinge and the case snaps shut as it should. The face is in fairly good condition but does have some minor damage. There is a surface stress fracture just to the right and below the numeral 12. There are further stress fractures between 5 & 6 and to the left of number 9 running up to the underside of number 10. There is a further stress fracture between the digits on 11. The mahogany case is in generally good condition. There is a stress fracture to the left hand side of the hinge but no movement here. The backplate is in good order. Clearly the main issue is the lack of a movement and the later quartz replacement. The pointers are clearly later. The quartz movement is not working.
A late Victorian school type wall clock, with single train spring driven movement in a mahogany case, with pendulum. Diameter 34 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The painted tin dial is slightly uneven and has minor losses around the screw holes. All the numerals have blurred edges/brush marks. There is a loss to the paint at the number 10. The hinge screws have been replaced. The rear latch that holds the glazed door in place is missing. The woodwork looks to have been polished throughout. There are large splits to the pine carcass backing. There is a 3.5 cm x 1 cm section of veneer missing from the top left hand corner of the underside and a further 3 cm x 1 cm piece of veneer missing from the top left hand corner of the door and also an age crack approximately 6 cm long just beneath the veneer loss. There is a pendulum but no key. There are small enamel chips around the winding hole. It does wind and is currently ticking away.
A Continental porcelain Rococo style mantle clock, probably German, with French Paul Mancel, Paris, two-train striking movement. Height 29 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: There is no glass nor has there ever been any covering of the dial. There is a vertical fine hairline crack issuing from the centre of the dial towards the number 12. All floral enamel decorations show signs of being chipped. There is a small circular hairline crack at the number 9. There is no glass to the rear. There are small firing cracks throughout. A large piece of scroll is missing directly beneath the dial. The clock dial does not fit its housing 100% and we believe this is a replacement dial. The gilding is rubbed to some of the high points.
A Meissen style porcelain ink stand, with two inkwells and spill vase, floral and fruit encrusted. Width 32.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: One lid has a large Y shaped crack visible on the underside and exterior. Both lids have issues with enamel flaking and chips to the floral bouquets. The centre vase has numerous chips to the floral sprays, a small section of the pierced rim has been broken off and glued back on. The pounce pot has been broken and extensively restored with rivet repairs throughout. The majority of the flowers all have petals either missing or are chipped. The inkwell has a circumferal crack running across the base and has been repaired with rivets. The majority of the flowers decorating the tray have either petals missing or are chipped and there is a small restoration to the lower right hand corner rim. The exterior glaze is pitted with kiln dirt. Also the central vase does not fit flush in its aperture. There are various marks along the rim of the tray where applied decoration is now missing.
A set of four Chinese tea bowls, early Republic period, the interior decorated with a red dragon its claws and eyes picked out in white and black enamel, the exterior with similar dragons amongst Ruyi shaped clouds and with flaming pearl of wisdom, all beneath a polychrome key border and above spuming waves, red four character Hongxian seal mark, 9 cm diameter, all with wooden stands CONDITION REPORT: There are no obvious faults, flaws, cracks or chips visible.
A pair of Chinese porcelain dished plates, Republic period, decorated and underglaze blue with Ruyi shaped clouds and with six red bats with black enamel eyes, the underside with four underglazed bats and with six character mark for Jiangxi Ciye Gongsi within a double blue circle border. 18.3 cm diameter (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The dishes are in very good order with no obvious faults, cracks, chips, flaws or restorations.
