Johnson (John?) of Grays Inn Passage, London. An early 19th century, mahogany cased twin fusee, eight-day bracket clock with pull repeat, fitted with an incremental stirrup pendulum. Bearing engraved signature to the backplate with pendulum stay. The white painted dial. marked in Roman numerals with strike/night lever behind the door fitted gilt brass folding handle fish scale grilles and supported on ogee bracket feet. 40 cm high x 29 cm wide x 19.5 cm deep.Footnote: John Johnson is recorded as working at 9 Grays Inn Passage between 1770-1800.See Loomes, Brian. A collection of Chinese items to include a famile rose decorated yellow enamel ground porcelain saucer dish with central Shou symbol and roundels filled with dragons and Pheonix. Bearing a six-character mark for Guangxu 1875-1908. 28 cm diameter. Together with a Chinese green ground cloisonne jardiniere and octagonal lidded box both with flower decoration 20 cm diameter the jardiniere x 14 cm high, and a pair of pale green jadeite figures of "Dogs of Fo" 8 cm high.Qty: 5Condition report: The dish is very damaged and repaired,The cloisonne box is damaged at the rimThe jardiniere is damaged at the base and rim.The dogs of fo don't appear to have any apparent major defects.
A Chinese millefleur dished plate, late 19th /early 20h century, the underside painted with three bats, four character Qianlong mark, 24cm dia, on wood stand, a good millefleur vase, early 20th century, 16cm, on wood stand, a fluted famille rose bowl, painted with eight bats amongst flowers, rubber stamped mark, 12.3cm dia, a 19th century Canton enamel plate, on wood stand, 20cm; and a finely painted Republic period eggshell porcelain vase, with circular panels of deities and attendants, on a tight millefleur and gilt ground, four character Qianlong mark, 17cmCondition report: Republic vase has a large section of panel which has broken out in two places and has been glued in. The canton plate has a glued rim chip, a further rim chip and three hairline cracks on the rim. All other items appear to be in good condition, with no obvious visible cracks, chips or restoration.

Some light, almost insignificant, surface marks. A glaze slither/chip on the side edge. Otherwise the porcelain is in good condition and rings out nicely when lightly tapped. Some small chips to the rear of the wood frame interior rim, and a vacant screw hole. The turned wood back board is slightly warped.
A Chinese Kangxi famile vert Gu shaped porcelain vase painted with antiques and figures. 25 cm high x 12.5 cm diameterCondition report: An amateur repair to a large rim chip, approximately 4.7cm long x 1.7cm deep. The remainder of the vase appears to be in good condition with no further obvious chips, cracks or repairs. The majority of the enamel decoration appears to be in good condition, with only a couple of minor losses and the odd petal that hasn't been completely painted.

It is easier to see where the damage is from the underside of the plaque. a leaf and berry decorated bowl - 12cm diameter, is quite damaged to one side and has other cracks in the enamel. a foiled trinket box - 6cm long x 3cm high x 7.5cm deep - there is damage to corners of the lid and dented to one corner on the base. a small enamel dish decorated with a scholar and cat - no issues.

With a shagreen case embellished with metal stud work, diameter of this case 4.7cm, weight combined 90.2gms A gold plated pocket watch with a white enamelled dial, black Roman numerals and fancy steel hands, diameter of the inner case 3.8cm, signed Charles Ryland, London, with a green dyed tortoise shell pique wear case, dimensions 4.8cm, weight 88.4gms An enamelled case Georgian pocket watch, the movement signed George Nushard, Wasserburg, diameter approx 4.6cm, weight 70.6gms. All three watches AF. Condition Report: Shagreen covered watch, multiple losses to the shagreen, worn right through to the metal in several places, no glass, minute hand bent, dial hairline cracked, movement seized, chain loose on the drum. Case;- gold plate worn through in several places. Tortoiseshell cased watch;- some losses and cracks to the bezel, some of the metal studs are missing. Bullseye glass in situ, hairline cracks and a chip above X, movement seized. Enamel cased watch;- chips cracks and wear to the enamel, the dial is loose and unattached, movement seized. I have an assortment of watch bits that may or may not be from these watches. In precis. all have issues, all have damage.
A SILVER PAIR CASED POCKET WATCH with white enamel dial with Roman numerals and fancy hands. The mechanism is signed Millington, Salop. The inner case hallmarked London 1769, the outer case repoussed with classical figures and animals, diameter 4.7cm, weight combined 97.8gms Condition Report: Outer case;- Good no damage, button works fine, rather tarnished. . Inner case;- paper thin in places, it looks like the decorative end of the steel spring that keeps the mechanism in the case has had some sort of chemical reaction and eaten into the inner case. Dial is a bit loose, there is a substantial chip missing over ~2~ and various hairline cracks. Bullseye on the glass is also scratched matt. Mechanism appears seized, I haven~t got a key smaller than 2 and the pin is smaller than that. Nice decorative mechanism..
A SILVER CASED MASONIC PAIR CASED POCKET WATCH the white dial with hand painted Masonic symbols and Roman numerals, the mechanism signed John Crofswell London, with engraved and pierced spring guard featuring a squirrel, and blued steel screws. Both inner and outer case hallmarked London 1777-78, by case maker JW. Glass original hand blow and dimpled. Diameter 5.7cm, weight 153.8gms Condition Report: I have changed the date on this watch to 1817-1818, despite the London mark looking earlier, the 'b' date letter could also be either 1777-78, but I have decided to err on the side of caution and go with the later date. There was a John Crosswell registered in 1814, according to Brian Loomes complete book of watch makers. Original bulls eye glass, hand painted dial, several hair line cracks to the white enamel,the dial is loose and is missing two of the tiny pegs that go through the posts to secure it. Mechanism seized. Key attached. Both inner and outer case have light scratches and dents indicative of wear.
A Derby shaped circular soup plate from the Duke of Northumberland service, painted possibly by William Billingsley, with a spray of pink roses and five smaller sprigs, light blue border honeycomb border in gold and raised white enamel, with three oval reserves with panels of pink roses, 25.5cm diam, crown, crossed batons and D mark in puce, gilder's number 1 inside foot rim for Thomas Soare, c.1791This lot is probably one of the twenty-four soup plates supplied to the second Duke of Northumberland in 1791 as a matching to an earlier Chelsea-Derby service likely to have been ordered on the occasion of his second marriage in 1779. The London Day Book for 25 April 1791 refers to them as being decorated with the same pattern as the earlier pieces 'enam'd groups of roses, rich mosaic border on a light blue ground to match'.
