The National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies interest: an Edwardian pearl, diamond and enamel brooch, the red and green guilloche enamel floral mount set with three cultured pearls and eight graduated old-cut diamonds, in yellow gold mount (tests as approximately 14-18ct gold), 4cms wide, in Wartski box.Note: although the colours of The Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU), being purple, green and white, are better known and used more widely as the movement gained momentum, the colours of The National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies were red, green and purple. Other groups had a variety of colours including The Women's Freedom League which used yellow (or gold), green and white. It is generally thought that red was used by groups of Suffragists whereas purple was prefered by groups of Suffragettes who used more active and often violent methods for their cause.
A selection of 19th Century mourning brooches, comprising: a micromosaic bouquet brooch, in 9ct gold mount, 3cm wide; a banded agate and black enamel roundel brooch, 3.2cms diameter; a marquise-shaped pearl, blue enamel and 9ct yellow gold brooch with bead design and vacant hair panel to the reverse, 4cms wide; a brooch with central plaited hair panel withing black enamel wreath, 3.5cms wide; and a marquise-shaped banded agate brooch with seed pearls set to star motif at the centre, in beaded mount, 3.5cm wide. A Georgian enamel mourning ring, the main plaque decorated with white and black enamel urn under willow, engraved interior band 'Matthew Crowther died Oct 30th 1822 aged 88' and exterior where hair plait has been removed 'Ann Crowther died May 14th 1832 aged 78', in 9ct yellow gold, ring size P, 2.4g gross.
John Wilter, London: a George III silver pair cased pocket watch, the signed silver dial with black enamel roman hours and arabic seconds around a calendar phase, fitted a key wound verge movement with signed panel, pierced scrolling design and column construction, the outer case decorated with a classical garden scene and stamped 'Mauris Fecit', 53mm wide.
A vintage Cartier 18ct gold rose and ladybird brooch, signed ‘Cartier France’, stamped serial numbers to centre of back, French hallmarks and Cartier London import marks for 1963, the matted gold rose with an enamel ladybird to the edge of one petal, 1 7/8in. (4.7cm.) long.. Very good condition with no faults. Light scratching only to outside of petals.
First World War interest - an antique 18ct gold and diamond Prince of Wales feathers stick pin, designed as the Prince of Wales feathers within a diamond set horseshoe, inscribed verso 'Lieut. J. Heyes T.O.S.i H.R.H. / 18', 8cm. long; together with a 9ct gold stone-set stick pin; and a silver eagle stick pin. (3). - POW feathers: One tiny enamel 'jewel' missing from crown on POW feathers. Small old soldered spot repair to one end of motto ribbon. Otherwise good.. - 9ct: Good condition.. - Eagle: Good condition
A 1930s Norwegian silver and guilloche enamel brooch, by Gustav G. Gaudernack, of scalloped circular form, decorated with a bird of paradise on a blossomed branch, within a black and gilt foliate border, impressed marks, 1¾in. (4.4cm.) diameter.. Very good, with just a few minute scratches to enamel surface.
A pair of pierced silver earrings in the style of Georg Jensen, circular with pierced tulip design by George Tarratt, Birm. 1960; together with a vintage silver, enamel and marcasite brooch, in the form of a bird of paradise, 29mm. long; a silver brooch in the form of a running fox; and a floral design silver and enamel brooch. (5).

An Edwardian silver, gilt metal, turquoise and enamel double pendant necklace, probably Continental, with two oval enamel plaques depicting a courting couple, on pierced arched bales, suspended on graduated chains from a silver, turquoise set bar on a silver trace chain, overall 19¾in. (50cm.) long.. Good condition, with no faults - no damage to enamel, just a little wear to edges of gilt metal parts.
A sterling silver and diamond Hot Diamonds pendant necklace, the brushed and polished silver cross shaped pendant inset with a single brilliant cut diamond, on an 18in. silver curb link chain, the pendant 17mm. long, in original box; together with a pair of silver and parcel gilt bee stud earrings; a pair of 4cm. diameter silver hoop earrings; and a pair of smaller hoop earrings with blue enamel fish charms. (7).
A boxed 18ct Gold Brooch in the form of a pole with three enamel pennants, stamped 'Benzie Cowes', inscribed in the box 'By Kathleen Constance Hunt (nee Dykes) wife of Cecil Hunt, Campeador colours given to me by Nancy Muir to go with the book, along with 'The Gallant Little Campeador by Cecil Hunt'.. * At the outbreak of war the luxury motor yacht Campeador was offered to the Admiralty for patrol work and the owner volunteered along with two other members of the Royal Dart Yacht Club to help crew the yacht. On 23/02/1940 vessel was requisitioned for war service on harbour patrol duties at hire rate £60.0.0d per month. On June 22nd, 1940, the Campeador was sunk by a magnetic mine and foundered, sadly 20 people lost their lives and only two crew were picked up. Nancy Muir was the wife of Lieutenant John Reid Muir, Commander of HMY Campeador, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, one of those lost at sea on 22/06/1940..
A Victor Mayer for Faberge 18ct white gold and enamel egg pendant, the pendant decorated with four panels of chestnut enamel, each centred by a single white gold star, 13.5mm. long, on the original Faberge 18ct white gold cable link chain, overall length 18in. (45.75cm.), in the original box with certificate booklet, swing tag and outer card box.. In excellent condition, with no faults. Box VG.
An 18ct gold cased open face fob watch, Continental, marked '18K', gilt fob wind lever movement, white enamel dial with gilt and black Roman numerals, 33mm. case with chased foliate decoration.. Winds and runs. Hands adjust correctly. Dial VG. Hands have a couple of small blemishes to the blued finish. Glass good. Case good - small ding to side of case at 2 o'clock. Engraved monogram to caseback. The cuivre is base metal.
A cased George V silver and guilloche enamel dressing table set, Henry Clifford Davis, Birm. 1924, comprising a hand mirror, two hair brushes, cut glass powder jar, cigarette box, shoe horn and trinket dish, in the original fitted Elkington & Co. case, gross weight excluding cut glass bowl and shoe horn 35 tr.oz. (faults). * Lacks one piece. Marks rubbed to most of the pieces. Large chip to enamel to lid of powder jar and also to one corner of cigarette box, with three other smaller chips and a bruise to edges. Chipping to enamel to end of clothes brush. Two chips (to top and underside) of dish. Shoe horn has two chips to enamel and rust.
A large Chinese export porcelain Canton famille rose punch bowl, worn four character seal mark to base, 19th century, painted with a continuous scene of an extensive lake landscape with pagodas and temples, a bridge and a masted European ship, below a border of foliage, flowers, bats and Shou symbols on an iron red and gilt seed ground, the interior painted in rouge-de-fer and gilt with butterflies, fruit and flowers, 15 ¾in. (40cm.) diameter, gilt wear., There is a large chip to the footrim from manufacture which is beneath the glaze. Gilt wear to rim and some rubs to decoration to interior. A few minor losses to exterior enamel. There is also a strange flaw to the rim, which appears to be a manufacturing fault - a partially detached flake from the porcelain which has some small chips along the edge - please see the close-up photos of this fault.
A Chinese cinnabar lacquer vase, early 20th century, baluster form, carved with figures and buildings in wooded mountain landscapes, below a lappet band and neck with flowers and leafy scrolls, the inside and base blue enamelled, 9in. (22.9cm.) high, dent to rim; together with a Chinese square enamel lidded box, decorated with a butterfly, peaches and flowers on a blue ground, turquoise interior, red stamp to base, 3¼in. (8.2cm.) square; and a pair of Japanese ginbari cloisonne dragon vases, both bruised, 6in. (15.2cm.) high. (4) - Cinnabar vase: Dent to rim, which has caused a large chip from lacquer and flaking from interior enamel. - Box: Small flake from top of one side. Otherwise good. - Cloisonne: One vase has a small bruise with flaking from enamel to shoulder. The other vase has a dent to rim and flaking from enamel beneath this - also a tiny bruise to shoulder, but no losses.
A pair of miniature Chinese gilt metal champleve enamel covered jars, 20th century, of globular form, the domed covers with teardrop finials, with polychrome enamel decoration of lotus flowers and leafy scrolls, the interiors and bases in turquoise enamel, 2¾in. (7cm.) high. (2) A few minor flaws to the enamel (from the making). Otherwise in good condition overall.
A fine English gilt brass double fusee carriage clock with hour strike, mid-19th century, unsigned, the slightly convex, 6.5cm. white enamel Roman dial within a deeply engraved, gilt brass mask with scrolling foliage, fronting a double fusee movement with substantial plates united by four turned gun barrel pillars, below a gilt platform with 'Slow' Fast' adjustment to the back edge, the steel balance over an underslung lever escapement, the hours striking on a bell, in a column case with bevelled glass panels to the front, sides and top, solid removable rear door, plinth base and adjustable counter feet, turned, the octagonal section handle on S-scroll uprights, 6 5/8in. (16.8cm.) high. Not currently running - runs extremely briefly and hesitantly when moved or the hand set knob is turned, but clearly requires some attention. Strikes correctly. The dial has a small demi-lune crack at the edge of the dial between 8 and 9, otherwise good. The case in clean and bright overall, with just a little spotting and some small scratches to the gilt finish in a few places. Both side glass panels have a chip at the lower edge in the centre.
A French gilt brass carriage clock, c.1900, the white enamel Arabic dial signed 'Snow & Ashworth Harrogate Made in Paris', with twin train movement striking the hours and half hours on a gong, in an Anglaise case with reeded, key-style handle, 4¾in. (12.1cm.) high plus handle. Runs. Strikes but needs adjustment to strike the hours correctly, and strike mechanism can be slow to start - probably needs oiling. Case good overall with a little spotting to gilding. Dial and glass in good condition.
A 19th century French rosewood, faux-rosewood and marquetry portico clock by Troup à Paris, the signed, 4in. white enamel dial with blue Roman numerals, within a gilt brass bezel, fronting a signed, twin barrel, bell strike movement with outside countwheel strike, the case with serpentine pediment on faux-rosewood barleytwist columns, on a reel moulded plinth base, 20¼in. (51.5cm.) high, faults. Requires some restoration. The movement is not running - the pendulum spring is missing and the guide is bent. The clock does strike correctly. The minute hand is broken off (although present). Repaired chip to dial at XII and chipping to edge & crack at six. The case is dirty, with minor veneer chips to edges and dulled polish.
Two gilt brass carriage clocks with alarms for restoration, both requiring work, one French, early 20th century, with corniche case, single train movement, white Roman enamel dial with subsidiary alarm dial, with morocco travelling case; the other by Matthew Norman of London, c.1980. with leather travelling case and instruction booklet. (2) - French: Winds but runs only briefly. Alarm lacks bell from beneath case and alarm rings repeatedly when wound, so requires work. Large chip to top left of dial and hairline below alarm. Movement door lacks knob and has small chip top left of glass. Top handle detached from morocco case. - M. Norman: Not running, but alarm does function correctly. Escapement looks encrusted with dust and dirt, so may simply need cleaning. Case dirty with brass polish residue. 1½in. crack to top of dial. Leather case lacks handle. Neither clock has a key.
A fine George III 22ct gold and enamel mourning ring, the band with milled edge and white enamel band within black lined borders, inscribed 'JOHN.WHITEHEAD.WARRE.OB14.SEP.1804.AET.15', the inside of the band inscribed 'Perished in sight of his Parents, the Wye off Cold Well', hallmarked William Hunter II, London, ring size T½, in the original red morocco leather box. * A memorial marks the site of this tragic event, along the banks of the river Wye in the Wye Valley, near Coppett Hill and Welsh Bicknor, Herefordshire. A copy of the a photograph of the memorial and a copy of the inscription from the memorial is included with the lot. The ring appears to have been kept in the box since it was made and remains in very fine condition, with no damage or wear whatsoever. The box is in good condition, with some wear to the edges on the morocco and from the catch.
A group of enamel and porcelain trinket boxes, including Halcyon Days, Crummles and Limoges, including a Herend style large porcelain trinket box with cat to cover; a Halcyon Days miniature carriage clock; and a Halcyon Days Autumn Flowers box with inset clock beneath lid; together with an .800 silver figure of a duck; a miniature carved stone hippo; and two Wade Disney figures. (16) Halcyon Days clock has spotting to lacquer and is not running (probably requires new battery). Hippo has chip to one tooth and tip of one ear. All other pieces in good condition.
A Cartier 'Must de Cartier' gold plated and enamel propelling pencil, biro and fountain pen, c.1986, the reeded cases with burgandy enamel clips and Cartier logo to ends and cap, the cartridge fountain pen with 18ct gold nib, all three in the original cases with papers. (3) The pencil and biro have been used and have some wear to the plating to the ends and edges, and some light spotting to the plated finish to the main body. The turning end cap to propel the pencil leads and biro nib are working well. The fountain pen is in very good condition, with minor scratches from use. Nib VG. No cartridges included. All of the cases are in good condition.
A Chinese champleve enamel and gilt metal oval box, probably 19th / early 20th century, the lid with a pierced mutton fat jade mount, with flowers and shou symbol, within a border of enamel flowers, two bats and leafy scrolls, the sides with Greek key and diaper decoration, 3 1/8 x 2¾in. (7.9 x 7cm.), 1 3/8in. (3.5cm.) high.. * Engrained dirt throughout and gilt worn/dulled. No damage to jade or enamel. Gilt to base has some wear and an old sticker mark. Staining to base of interior.
A Chinese enamelled brass lidded box, probably late 19th / early 20th century, marked 'China' to base, cylindrical with faux bamboo decoration, enamelled with two shaped reserves depicting noblemen and an attendant in a garden, on a ground of smaller reserves with flowers and Shou symbols, with blue glass bead finial 4½in. (11.4cm.) high.. * The brass tarnished but otherwise good, with no damage or losses from enamel and no dents or dings.
An Edwardian silver mounted desk barometer and clock, William Comyns, London 1902, with a chrome plated pocket barometer and a nickel plated goliath pocket watch, with Roman enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, gilt three quarter plate Swiss lever movement, housed in a leather case with easel back and a pierced silver, foliate scroll mount, 7 x 4¾ x 1½in. (17.8 x 12.1 x 3.8cm.).. * Marks good. Silver in good condition. Polish residue to the leather behind the mount and some water staining to silk lining inside the cover from cleaning. Wear to leather on back. Easel back secure. Watch and barometer in good condition. Light scratching to back on both. Watch winds and runs.
A 19th century French silvered cartouche shaped cartel clock, 13cm convex enamel dial inscribed Planchon, Paris, twin-winding holes, eight-day movement striking on a bell, the backplate signed and numbered 01403, the case cast in the Rococo taste with flowers, scrolling acanthus and trellis, 52cm long, c.1860
