Bailey exhibited in the Royal Academy and his works are now within the V&A. He trained under William Essex (1784-1869) who is the artist responsible for the miniature set into lot 1302

Essex to the reverse, mounted to a pin 63mm long, William Essex (1784-1869) was a painter of enamel miniatures and was appointed as enamel painter to royalty. There are a number of examples of his work in the Royal Collection.
