Enamel dial and silver cases in good condition. Fusée chain is broken. Does not work. Balance wheel spins.
Early Victorian gentlemens` silver pair cased pocket watch with white enamel dial decorated with landscape depicting farmer ploughing field, the fusée movement with verge escapement by Crundwell, Hadow, cases and movement both numbered 37749, hallmarked London 1856 Excellent condition. Dial perfect. Case excellent. Push button on outer case worn away. Fusée chain intact balance wheel spins freely. The watch winds but does not run.
An 18ct gold William IV memorial ring, in the form of a coiled serpent, London 1835, the cross hatch and engraved snake decorated with black champleve enamel (remnants only) with rose cut diamond set eyes. Hand engraved to the inside `Rt Honble Lord Dunstanville abt 5th Feb 1835, aged 78` (engraving worn). Finger size Q. Research has confirmed the peer was Francis Basset, the 1st Baron de Dunstanville, of Tehidy, Co. Cornwall. Francis Basset was born on 9th August 1757 at Walcot, Oxfordshire, the eldest son of Francis Basset (1715-1769), MP and landowner, of Tehidy, Co. Cornwall, and his wife, Margaret, daughter of Sir John St Aubyn, 3rd Baronet of Clowance, Co. Cornwall. The Basset family were anciently sat at Tehidy since at least the time of Richard I. The family`s connection eventually came to an end, after some seven centuries, in 1916, when the estate was sold off by one of the heirs of the entail of Francis` will. A ladies 9ct white gold Art Deco bracelet watch, with a rectangular ivory coloured dial with Arabic numerals to a chamfered case. Adjustable Milanese white gold bracelet fitted, marked 18c. Case No. 502097, 1929, together with an Art Deco diamond and pearl (untested) bar brooch, a rose cut diamond and ruby horseshoe ring, and a 9ct white and yellow crossed scimitar badge, by Garrards, decorated with black and amber enamel, Birmingham 1959. The following lots (130-140) came originally from Easton Lodge, the seat of Daisy, Countess of Warwick. Daisy had a renowned `liaison` with Edward Prince of Wales, the future King, lasting nine years and ending in 1898. A Victorian leather bound note book in a hammered silver cover, by William Thomas and William Frederick Wright, London 1892, the front with applied enamel daisies, initial `D` in diamonds and pearls, `thoughts` and a motto in Greek: `Gnothi Seauton` (`Know Thyself`). The clasp shaped as a heart, 20cm long x 14.75cm wide. The Wright brothers supplied small silver work to retailers in Bond Street and Piccadilly, such as Leuchars, Thornhill and Vickery.
