A BILSTON ENAMEL PATCH BOX, CIRCA 1790 of oval form, the hinged cover printed and hand-coloured with 'A Trifle from London / Carlton House', the Royal residence with figures in the foreground, opening to reveal a mirror, the base blue. 5.4cm wideCarlton House was The Prince of Wales' ever-evolving London residence on Pall Mall between 1783 and 1826. It was demolished the next year and replaced with Carlton House Terrace, which stands today.
A GROUP OF GOUDA ART POTTERY comprising a 'Rato' chamberstick, 21cm high; a 'Collier' candlestick, 25cm high; a 'Nadro' baluster vase, 27cm high; a 'Somma' small jardinière, 14.5cm high; a wall pocket, 23cm long; together with a Rembrandt charger, 36.5cm diameter. (6)'Nadro' vase with glaze chip to the footrim; 'Somma' jardiniere with heavy crazing and some losses to the black enamel; 'Rembrandt' charger heavily hairlined. Not currently running, not assessed for timekeeping.
A SET OF SIX GEORGE V SILVER AND ENAMEL COFFEE SPOONS by Jones & Crompton, Birmingham 1928, the terminals enamelled with an Asian-style design of a red pagoda and black script on a blue ground, cased. 9.3cm long, 1.3 troy ounces grossMarks lightly rubbed but legible. Traces of gilding remain to spoon bowls. Some minor losses to enamelling, at narrow tip on four of the six spoons. Light surface scratches commensurate with age and use.
A 19th Century Stourbridge glass scent bottle by Edward Webb, of spherical form with upstand collar missing a silver mount and spherical stopper, gilded and silvered in the Aesthetic taste with insects and flowering boughs over the deep opal ground, red enamel mark, together with a matched small cylindrical pot, damaged.
A 19th Century enamel necessaire, probably continental, decorated with hand painted cartouche panels, one side with a lady and gentleman in 18th Century dress and to the other two figures before an Italianate landscape, all to a white ground with gilt and enamel scrolls and sprays of flowers, the sprung button hinge opening to reveal fitted interior retaining tweezers, a spoon and a pair of scissors, length 10cm, damaged.
A late 19th Century Locke & Co Shrub Hill Worcester bud vase decorated with robins in flight with a reticulated flared neck, printed mark, height 14.5cm, together two Grainger & Co reticulated vessels, one vase with gilt panels, the second a bowl raised to four scroll feet with blue and red enamel decoration, printed marks, damage and restoration. Framed; height: 30 1/4 in x width: 20 in.Condition: There are no visible rips, breaks, losses, or restorations when inspected under UV light. The colors are bold and bright and the surface is stable. Light wear to the frame; framed under plexiglass; not inspected out of frame.

Provenance:The collection of Paul Whitfield (1942–2018)Paul Whitfield’s distinguished auctioneering career began in the furniture department at Christie’s in 1965 rising quickly through the ranks to become managing director at King Street by 1969. Later, he was instrumental in the setting up of Christie’s South Kensington. He was the son of the poet and writer Christopher Whitfield, an early friend of Michael Cardew in the 1920s, and a supporter of Frederick Landseer Griggs.After Christie’s, he worked in roles at Bonhams, Sotheby’s, and finally Phillips. Passionate about his craft, he had a deep knowledge of many areas, including bronzes, furniture, ceramics, and modern British painting. This passion was reflected in his own collection, avidly compiled over his lifetime and housed at his Cotswold home outside Chipping Campden.In retirement, he provided invaluable support to the north Cotswolds’ museums, as a trustee of the Guild of Handicraft Trust and the Court Barn Museum, as well as loaning works of art to the Winchcombe archive collection.Damage to the surface of the enamel to right edge, lower middle edge, left edge. Main area of enamel with the fish is OK. Surface of the silver is rubbed in places, and with light surface marks.
