A Porcelain Snuff Bottle as a Squirrel, probably circa 1820, modelled as a squirrel crouching on a grape vine, upon a leaf, in naturalistic enamel colours, with lapis lazuli type stopper, 8.4cm high. A common decorative theme in Chinese art are squirrels accompanied by grapes. Squirrels are especially fond of sweet juicy grapes and feed on them continuously. Their action is described in Chinese as "taste one more time". A homophonic interpretation could also be "promote to the top rank at the Imperial Court".
A French champleve enamel decorated clock with gilt urn pediment and floral capped pillars, the porcelain dial painted with a cherub. With a further porcelain oval plaque below, signed lower right Carol, depicting a maiden with two cherubs and porcelain plaques to either side, again depicting cherubs. A W Bombs - seven WWII period enamel signs, 30cms x 20cms approx. The signs would have been used on boxes of A W Bombs warning of the dangers to be avoided when handling and storing. Made by Albright and Wilson. SIP or No.76 Grenades were based on white phosphorous and were in glass containers, initially issued to the Home Guard for use by hand and later with Northover Projector (the signs were found in a greenhouse). ++all have rust damage
