The flaring trumpet neck and domed base of the gu are finely enameled with the Eight Precious Objects, bajixiang, adorned with fluttering ribbons and entwined with the curly vines of a lotus meander, divided by a bulbous mid-section below bands of ruyi-heads, upright lappets, key-fret patterns and floral scrolls, all against a bright lemon-yellow ground.Provenance: French private collection, acquired from a gallery in Marseille.Condition: Very good condition with only minor old wear, particularly to gilt, some fritting to mouth rim.Weight: 1,097 gDimensions: Height 27.7 cmVases of this type are usually found as part of an altar garniture, with matching incense burner and candlestick holders, all invariably decorated with bajixiang and lotus scrolls. The baluster vase dates to the late Qing Dynasty and rises from a splayed foot to a waisted neck molded with a bamboo groove, painted in bright enamels from the Famille Verte palette with courtiers in a palace garden. The base with an apocryphal six-character Kangxi reign mark within a double circle.The lobed box dating to the Republic period is brightly enameled to the top of the lid with a couple of magpies perched on a peony branch, the sides with reserves enclosing various birds and flowers, on a scrolling foliage ground.Condition: The box in good condition with some chips along the rims and touch-ups. In back of each is a Ho (phoenix), noteably reduced to a circular surface, with flaming tail and bushes from throat. Delicately painted tendril with kiku blossoms all around. The major pictoral area is many-faceted - bamboo framed fields, also kiku (chrysanthemum) with vines and picture window with view of trees etc. On bottom are blue painted vines in the manner of Chines. Xiangcao. The painting technique differs - blue underglaze, enamel color, rich iron oxide red and much gold! A SOLID CLOISONNE ENAMEL TRIPOD INCENSE BURNERChina, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). The cylindrical gilt-copper body, sturdily cast in circular form, raised on three ruyi-shaped feet to an everted rim, flanked by a pair of slightly S-shaped handles, brightly enameled at the outer wall with a scrolling multi-colored lotus pattern and a ruyi-shape band against a blue of Jingtai ground, the base and the rim gilt.
