A fine late 19th century champlevé enamel carriage clock by Maurice and Co., the anglaise riche case with Corinthian capitals and dentil friezes, decorated with champlevé enamel to the top, columns, base and handle, with foliate cast pierced gilt brass mounts to the side panels under bowed glass, conforming floral mask surrounding the silvered Arabic chapter ring with black painted numerals within circlets and filigree roundel centre mount, blued steel hands, signed by the retailer, Hall & Co., Paris', the eight day twin train movement striking a gong on the hour and half hour, no. 4761, signed 'E. M. & Co.' to backplate, with silvered platform to cut bimetallic balance with lever escapement, gong striker to back plate, 8in. (20.25cm.) high, 4¼in. (11.4cm.) wide. * This clock is by one of the most important makers of the late 19th century, E. Maurice of Charlot 95, Paris, examples of which were exhibited in the Paris exhibition of 1889.
A 19th century Belgian slate multi-dial mantle clock, circa 1880, within a trefoil form slate case, bearing 5¾in. (14.7cm.) white enamel Roman chapter ring, the recessed central area showing visible escapement, eight day gong strike movement, within a brass bezel beneath bevelled glass hinged door, two 4¼in. (10.8cm.) dials beneath, the left a perpetual calendar with enamel outer ring denoting months, outside a recessed circular section with three subsidiary dials for day, date and year, above an arched moon phase aperture with night sky decoration, the right dial with aneroid barometer with spear and crescent hand and gilt spear adjuster, with stormy sky decoration, both with brass bezels and bevelled glass doors, centralised shaped glazed housing for mercury pendulum, two reserves of diamond form malachite inlay, on rectangular stepped base with engraved scrolling decoration and circular malachite reserve, label to rear of clock for Foster, Cooper and Foster, 19in. (48.25cm.) high, 21in. (53.3cm.) wide.
A French engraved slate and green marble clock garniture, 1870s, the circular 95mm Roman black enamel dial signed 'Van De Lannoy, Lille', framed by a circular gilt bezel with husk decoration, bevelled glazed door with bead work to edge, eight day bell strike movement, encased in square slate and marble body with engraved spear and scroll spandrels augmented with marble corners, surmounted with a marble urn bearing brass scroll handles and bouquet finial on variegated rectangular plinth, lion and ring masks to sides, two rear brass bracket supports, the front with two corner mounted brass lion paw feet, 18½. (47cm.) high, 11in. (28cm.) wide, the garniture completed by a pair of gilt brass urns of elongated ovoid form with sword, rose and quiver relief panels, waisted dodecagon chamfered neck, on brass bracket supports to rear, scrolling front supports, 12½in. (31.7cm.) high. (3)
A French gilt brass figural mantel clock, late 19th century, the enamel Roman dial signed 'F. L. Hausburg A Paris', eight day twin train movement striking a bell, the baroque case with inset marble panels and surmounted by a maiden beside a water fountain, 14½in. (37cm.) high. * Condition: Small enamel flaking from around right hand winding hole and hairline from hole to edge of dial at 3.30. V-shaped flake below other winding hole and a few craze cracks around the six marker. Case in good condition with no damage or losses. Case would benefit from a clean. The pendulum is suspended from two fine steel springs - one is snapped so the pendulum hangs and moves unevenly.
A 19th century French gilt brass and enamel four glass mantel clock, with signed Japy Frères et Cie. eight day twin train movement striking a coil, no. 5082 4 8', the Arabic gilt dial with pink enamelled centre roundel signed by the retailer 'Sharman D. Neill Ltd. Belfast', the fluted gilt brass case with bevelled glass and conforming pink and white enamelled panels, 10½in. (26.5cm.) high.
An inlaid slate cased mantel clock, late 19th century, white enamel Roman dial, marked 'Dufet A' Nantes', eight day bell strike movement signed for Vincenti, 1855, within a waisted form central body, with slate and Eretria marble top with bronze covered urn surmount, decorated with rose florettes and thorned stem handles, on wider base bearing Eretria marble inlay, 13in. (33cm.) high, 8¼in. (21cm.) wide.
A collection of silver and silver-gilt Masonic jewels, first half 20th century, including a silver gilt and enamel oval 'Bengal' jewel from Lodge Humility with Fortitude no. 229 E.C., Fort William, Calcutta, c.1938; a fine quality Wor. Master jewel from the same Lodge with enamelled elephant plaque, c.1933; a Chapter Holy Zion no. 486 E.C. silver gilt jewel; and eight others. (11) * Condition: All but one in good condition, with no damage. The exception (1908 Diamond Jubilee jewel) - on this the ivory silk has shattered. Otherwise good.
Three 19th century stone set patch boxes, all of oval form, to include a gilt metal example, the hinged lid and base inset with moss agate, 44mm wide; a floral enamel inlaid box with Lake Superior agate inset to hinged lid and base, 48mm wide; and a machined gilt bodied box, the hinged lid and base with inset chalcedony agate, 60mm wide. A German 'Der Deutschen Mutter' (German Mothers Cross) medal, cobalt blue enamel cross with white edges on sunburst roundel, centre with black barbed cruciform German emblem with surrounding text, verso inscribed '16 Dezember 1938', with Hitler's signature also engraved, on blue and white neck ribbon. * Condition: Medal is in good condition, the ribbon is slightly dirty.
A cased silver and enamel travelling dressing set, Mappin and Webb, London 1947, comprising, brush, clothes brush, hand mirror, two cut glass powder pots and two cut glass scent bottles, all with pink guilloche enamel decoration, plus a silver backed comb and leather box, all on a folding and removable tier within leather case with canvas outer cover. * Condition: Enamel and silver in good condition, with no damage. Some rubbing to marks from polishing but legible and all pieces match. No damage to cut glass. Case in good condition, with minor edge wear. Spare canvas handle cover inside lid pocket.
A Victorian silver and enamel cigarette case by Sampson Mordan & Co., London, 1891, of rounded rectangular form, the hinged lid bearing an enamel pictorial after Jean Louis Meissonier's 'The Brawl', signed with monogram 'FC', depicting a quarrel in a 17th century tavern between two bravos, tables and chairs overturned, the assailant with his dagger drawn, struggling to free himself from two companions, as they with difficulty prevent his rushing upon his adversary, who, restrained by a third peacemaker, attempts to draw his sword, push button release to front, gilt interior, 3½ x 2½in. (8.9 x 6.3cm.). * Condition: Flake from lower left corner of enamel. Some small scratches to enamel surface. Silver good. Interior lacks elastics. Hallmarks crisp to interior.
A Norwegian silver gilt and plique à jour spoon, circa 1920, barley twist stem with floral and foliate terminal to a filigree work bowl with conforming holly-leaf, berry and hare bell decoration, the outer rim with a border of blue and green enamel circles, unmarked, 7in. (17.8cm.) long. * Condition: Two tiny cracks to one flower petal on terminal. Tiny cracks visible under a glass throughout to the clear and sky blue glass to bowl. These are probably from the making.
A pair of Oriental white metal and enamel articulated fish, mid-20th century, the fan tail fish with articulated scaled bodies, fins and eyes, on hanging chains, one enamelled in dark blue and pale blue, the other purple and pale blue, 3¼in. (8.3cm.) long. (2) * Condition: Both tarnished. Both with one or two small flakes from enamel to rim of mouth, and one tiny flake to one eye. One has two tiny flakes from enamel to tail, and the other one tiny flake.
An 18th century Chinese famille rose soup bowl, octagonal form with everted rim, with gnarled trunk bearing blooms, peony and ruyi fungus beside Kakiemon blue rockwork, the rim with floral and foliate stems, 8½in. (21.6cm.) diameter; together with a matching plate. (2) * Condition: Bowl has a chip to underside of rim and a few tiny glaze frits, plus gilt wear. Plate has several glaze frits to each side. Gilt wear and some flaking from blue enamel rockwork.
A Chinese porcelain famille rose bowl, Hongxian printed four character mark to base, scalloped rim, decorated in enamels with Buddhistic emblem border to interior, peony bloom to well, exterior with peony and phoenix decoration, 6¼in. (15.8cm.) diameter, with hardwood stand; together with a matched saucer plate of conforming design, printed mark to base, 7½in. (19cm.) diameter. (3) * Condition: Bowl has a 60 x 30mm glued section of damage to rim. Extensive wear and flaking to enamel on bowl. Plate has 0.5in. hairline to rim. Decoration good.
A Chinese cinnabar lacquer jar with cover, early 20th century, cylindrical form decorated with various figures in garden settings, blue enamel interior and base, 3¼in. (8.3cm.) high. * Condition: Dents to copper interior rim. 15mm chip to top exterior of upper body. A few very minor frits to base edge.
A set of three late 18th century Chinese export plates, polychrome enamel and gilt decoration, with dragon chasing flaming pearl, pagoda beside Kakiemon blue rockwork and flowering prunus tree design, within a trailing border of stylised emblems, 9in. (22.8cm.) diameter. (3) * Condition: Two have multiple small chips to rim and one of these also has a 1.5in hairline to rim. The other has no chips, but has a 3in. hairline to one side of the central well. Some rubbing to the decoration on all three.
A pair of Chinese 18th century famille rose plates, the undulating rims with three floral trails, around decoration of peony blooms issuing from Kakiemon blue rockwork, 9in. (22.8cm.) diameter. (2) * Condition: Both plates have two or three small glaze chips to rim. Some wear to enamel on both plates, plus gilt wear. Both also have some rubbing to glaze to the well from contact with other plates.
Two Chinese export famille rose plates, 18th / early 19th century, one decorated with birds amidst flowering branches, within a border of auspicious objects and flowering foliage; the other with floral border and ribbon tied bouquet to centre, both 9in. (22.8cm.) diameter. (2) * Condition: Birds: Losses from enamel to central well. Small chip to foot rim.Bouquet: Rubbing to iron red borders.
A Chinese interior painted glass snuff bottle, rectangular form, with painted decoration of two wild cats in mountainous terrain, the reverse with squirrels in vines, 4¼ x 2¾in. (10.8 x 7cm.); plus a second example of moon vase form with enamel decoration depicting children at play, 3 x 2½in. (7.6 x 6.4cm.). (2) * Condition: 3mm flake to base of Lynx example, two tiny chips to underside of base, enamel example missing stopper.
A pair of Japanese miniature cloisonné bottle vases, flared long neck with moth and floral decoration, with hardwood linked stands, together with a carved ivory angel fish netsuke, a/f. (3) * Condition: Two bad impact marks and loss of 5mm enamel patch to first vase, 3mm impact to second vase. 12mm piece of ivory missing to dorsal fin of fish.
A Chinese cobalt blue enamelled brass dish and cover, 19th century, of bun form, both dish and cover with alternating single and double overlapped gilt circlets infilled with foliate and floral designs, pink interior, on raised circular foot, 3½in. (8.8cm.) diameter. * Condition: Vertical flange rim to base subject to some bending. Impact chip to centre of cover, and another to edge, both showing as a chip to the interior beneath also. Small bruise to other side of cover with enamel crazing and tiny flakes. Several small enamel chips missing to lower edge of cover, and a further two to top of base.
