Very small area of exceptionally good restoration to the enamel. The weight of this item is 103.3g. The case appears to be base metal, it may be brass or brass on copper, however it is difficult to determine.

Eaft [sic], London', no.120, with pierced tulip columns, pierced and engraved balance cock and silver regulator disc, dial diameter 4.1cm, outer case diameter 5.5cm.Additional InformationThe outer case is rather tired. There is a repair to the upper thin rim which is around where the stem protrudes. This is also a split approx 3cm to the main section of the back. A small split around the push button. The watch itself has a good dial. The movement ticks when wound, although slightly catches and the hinge is very slightly loose. The stem has been repaired with solder both exterior and interior and neither case carries a visible hallmark.

The dial is in good order with a very slight scratch to the centre of the named inscription, light surface wear and scratches elsewhere. The inner case has a crude area where the stem meets the body indicating it may have been repaired at some stage and the case is dented and quite thin around the winding hole with further small dents throughout. The second case has surface wear. There is a 4mm split to the rim where the push button joins the upper section and tiny small dents elsewhere. The outer white metal cover has a few old repairs, splits and areas of damage noticeably around the stem and button release.

French Mid 19th Century Belle Epoque Superb Gilt Metal Mantel Clock - by Japy Freres, features figures to front covered carrying handle to top and beaded borders. The clock has a white enamel dial with a French 8 day movement which strikes the hours and half hours on a bell. The movement as a fixed pendulum to the arbor, rather than a separate pendulum to the crutch, which is known as a tic-tac movement. The movement back plate is stamped with the maker Japy Freres. A GERMAN SILVER AND ENAMEL CIGARETTE CASE LOUIS KUPPENHEIM PFORZHEIM 1925-30 oblong the ground of burnt orange guilloché enamel the lid decorated in Japonesque style with an iridescent blue peacock before a flowering tree in gold inlay and opaque enamel dot and chevron silver sides blue cabochon paste thumbpiece gilt interior maker’s circled crown ‘935’ and ‘STERLING’ marks 8.3cm long 132gr all in Louis Kuppenheim founded in 1857 became a renowned firm of gold and silver boxmakers and smallworkers in Germany in the early 20th century. They were famed for their high quality enamelling having at least 200 employees at their Pforzheim factories in their heyday as well as a shop in Paris and an international export business. As the Kuppenheims were of Jewish extraction after 1933 business declined and Nazi persecution saw to the liquidation of the concern in 1939 and the disappearance (by suicide emigration or deportation to the camps) of the family from the jewellery hub that was pre-war Pforzheim. AN AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN SILVER AND ENAMEL CIGARETTE CASE OTTO HUETERER VIENNA CIRCA 1915 rectangular the lid painted en plein enamel with ‘September Morn’ after Paul Emile Chabas depicting a young female nude quivering in the shallow waters of Lake Annecy blue and white taille d’épargne geometric outer border gilt interior 900 standard Dianakopf maker’s mark and another mark for Anton Rakusan 11cm long 161gr all in Paul Emile Chabas (1869-1937) had been painting ‘September Morn’ over several summers completing the picture in 1911. Exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1913 the picture went to Russia then surfaced in the collection of Calouste Gulbenkian only to be sold after his death and subsequently donated privately in 1957 to the Metropolitan Museum in New York although since 2014 it is no longer on display. Widely reproduced immediately following its unveiling at the Paris Salon it has always been somewhat controversial subject to a lawsuit and claims of indecency in America: hugely popular nevertheless the image apparently sold some seven million copies in reproduction and several women have famously claimed to be the original model.
