An antique high carat gold, black enamel and later? collet set cushion cut sapphire set 'poison' ring, the stone set in a raised central hinged compartment, with carved black enamelled shoulders, the stone measuring approximately 8mm by 7mm, size S, gross weight 11.4 grams. Sapphire stone possibly later added? Loss to the enamel within the shank and setting in general. Minor nibbles to the sapphire in places. Signs of general wear to the shank and settings, commensurate with age and frequent use. We believe the sapphire to be original but cannot guarantee. The vendor had the stone examined and the suggestion was that the sapphire was Sri Lankan with no heat treatment, but again there is no guarantee.
