Romano-British, enamelled bronze Dragonesque Brooch, of East Brigantian style, c. AD 75-175, 4.3cm x 2cm, flat plate brooch of S-shaped form with expanded body containing a rectangular panel with green enamel enclosing three yellow enamelled lozenge shaped cells; flanking this are large panels of blue enamel of wave form; at each end is a dragon’s head joined to the body by a strut, head with a large ear and a turned up snout, eye with blue enamel and around the neck are the remains of the bronze pin (cf. Hattatt 152). Intact with an uneven green brown patina and around 70% of the enamel surviving £300-£400 --- Provenance: Found in September 2020 near Grassington (North Yorkshire), in stony ground at a depth of 4.5 inches
Roman, bronze Hippocampus Plate Brooch, 2nd cent. AD, 2.5cm x 2cm, horse/fish creature facing right with two galloping front legs, at the rear is a large dorsal fin with a curved fin on its back, surface of the body with recessed panels in which some blue enamel remains. Complete with green patina and around 30% of the enamel remaining £120-£150 --- Provenance: Found in the Midlands
A 19th Century Victorian yellow metal and blue enamelled pendant locket being set with seed pearls in a star setting to the centre (one missing) opening to reveal a lock of hair to the inside behind glazed panels (one slightly broken), interior marked with possible French eagle mark, with makers marks MS. Measures 4cm including bale. Condition; overall good condition, enamel present throughout with some minor wear and tear, clasp working well, one seed pearl missing to the front.
