Two George III Staffordshire gilt-brass mounted enamel etui, third quarter 18th century, comprising: a pink ground example with vignettes of landscapes, the hinged cover enclosing a partially fitted interior with a folding fruit knife, tweezers, and a pencil holder, 9.5cm high; and a white ground example with riverside and farm scenes, with a partially fitted interior with a folding fruit knife and a pencil holder, 9.6cm high (2) Condition Report: Pink ground example - with extensive damage to include but not limited to cracks and chips to enamel, with areas of repair, including to the cracks to top of the body; major loss of enamel around button with evidence of repair and mount being reattached, with resin/glue visible; wear and bending to mount to cover with the enamel cover coming loose from mount; scratching to mounts and interior; rusting and wear to implements, other implements missing; discolouration to underside.White ground example - wear and damage to include area of repair around replaced paste button; clasp to interior is missing and therefore the cover does not close properly; chip to enamel to underside; cracks above vignettes; scratches throughout; scratches to mounts and loss of gilt; interior is loose and is easily removed; minor wear to the two implements.
Two George III Staffordshire gilt-brass mounted enamel etui, third quarter 18th century, comprising: a cream ground example with gilt scrolling foliate highlights having vignettes of floral sprays and a portrait of a young woman in a veil, the hinged cover enclosing a partially fitted interior with scissors, a folding fruit knife, two needles, and a pencil holder, 9.8cm high; and a smaller turquoise ground example, with vignettes of floral sprays, lacking fitted interior, 8.5cm high (2) Condition Report: The larger cream ground example - extensive restored and overpainted/gilded repairs to the body, around the portrait and floral vignettes and button. Scratches to brass mounts. Some implements missing.Smaller example – extensive damage, to include: the brass mount is no longer attached to body and whole cover can be removed; the mount to base is slightly loose; cracks throughout and restoration and overpainting to the cover. Chip above button and repaired cracks to body. Interior loose.

Miniature bowls or baskets were placed around a tiered table centrepiece, and they would have held a candied fruit, small sweets, biscuits or sugared flowers. Plate 223 of Conrad Haggars Neues Salzburgisches Koch-Buch, which was published in 1719, shows small bowls around a central tiered surtout. Condition Report: Overall in very good order with just some very, very minor wear to enamel border around the upper rim.

A French gilt and patinated bronze figural mantel clock, mid-19th century, modelled as a young man carrying a hay bale on his back while leaning on a cane and holding a pipe, on a plinth base with gilt-bronze mounts and four bun feet, the white enamel dial with Roman numerals and outer minute, signed Gerard a Paris, with Brequet hands, the twin train movement striking a bell on the hour and half hour, approx. 35.8cm high, 28cm wide, 10.5cm deepProvenance: Property of a Gentleman removed from a Knightsbridge Apartment.Please note that Roseberys do not guarantee the working order or time keeping of any timepiece.Condition Report: Case: There is tarnishing to the bronze, particularly to the base, with engrained dirt, finger prints and scratches. The underside with two bun feet missing and the remaining four feet are heavily scratched. Base is marked and tarnished to underside. There is a crack approx. 5cm long with other minor cracks to the reverse of the base. Minor tarnishing to figure and clock case, with minor losses to gilt on the bale and to the trousers. Dial: There are hairline cracks to the dial, to includes hairlines issuing from the winding holes to between 7 and 8 and through 5, and another through 9. There are scratches and areas of dirt throughout, especially to dial centre. The signature is rubbed. Hands are slightly bent.Movement: Some minor tarnishing and scratching to backplate. Possible replaced bell. Suspension spring and pendulum leader missing. There is no pendulum or key. Please note that Roseberys do not guarantee the working order or time keeping of any timepiece.
