A soviet silver and enamel cigarette case, 1925-1929 applied with SSSR in Cyrillic and the emblem of the Soviet Union, the hammer sickle, globe and red star in enamel, encircled with a wheat sheaf tied with ribbon and six bands representing the Republics, cabochon thumbpiece width: 9.5cm., 3.75in In 1922 the founding republics of the USSR were the Soviet republics of Russia, Ukraine, Transcaucasia and Belarus. In 1925 these four founding republics were joined by Turkmen SSR and Uzbek SSR. ½
